Well I think I’m done playing with Acros . All my lps seem to be settling in fairly well , but I lost the Grasshopper to STN overnight last night and now two maybe a third one started to shed since I went to bed this afternoon. The only one that seems happy is the Mango Lush.
Noooooooo!

Sometimes the order just doesnt ship well. I had 1 really bad order. Maybe try a few local sticks before doing another order. No melters nor anything that looks unhappy as of this moment. This was a really healthy one for me.

Well maybe. The gonis and torches in particular are in good shape. Blastos are not sure about life but hanging in. Might have to try a lower par area. This is the best Acro of the bunch for me. Even a bit furrier than the pic shows. At least during midday yesterday and a bit more orange . This is a non edited pic with orange kraken lens

What’s your alkalinity, nitrate, and phosphate at? Have you ever taken par readings? You run a lot of light

My photon is the only fixture in my 75g and channel 3,5,6 are 40%. 1 and 2 are 5. 4 is 8

I keep the acros up high, 3/4 up in the tank and they are doing good

If I remember right some of the channels are almost double what I’m using. Not saying it’s wrong. It clearly works for your tank. But the new acros might need to start lower and work their way up.

I have to admit it’s been a bit of a while since I checked params. I’ve been meaning to get back to doing at least alk , ca, and nitrates/phosphates on a regular basis again. PAR unknown. But admittedly probably a bit higher than some of the corals are truly happiest in . I’ve been thinking of experimenting with lowering the blues to see what’ll happen. In my previous tank the par was about mid 200s where torches were, but since it was a shallow reef setup it had the lights in the mid 50s. I was debating moving the remaining Acros lower in angle case

The photons 32’s can hit almost 1000 par at the surface, when at 100%. The reefi also is a very strong light. Corals, specifically finicky ones like acros, might have to adjust to your par.

My biggest past cause for sps peeling was alkalinity related. Too low. Or. Exposing to too drastic of a change in a short period of time

Here’s the par I had going from my previous tank. Mind you it was 8 inches shallower. I’m probably going to cut back on my blues first down to 58 from 68 and see what happens. Probly need to pull back a bit with the ReeFi although it’s a bit apples vs oranges as to how the controls go compared to Photon.

What do you think? She’s much cuter than I ever was. This is what being a grandpa is all about. She figured out cameras pretty early. Now I just have to get her addicted to corals, bonsai, golf and airplanes. Oh, and ice cream. My favorite thing to eat.

It definitely could be too much light. For whatever reason most of the acros I got in my order have made it clear that they prefer my sand bed which should be around 250 par

So, hopefully you have checked parameters by now, what did you find? There’s a good chance they will tell you what happened.

@steveschuerger I'll bring the sensi when I get home for par readings. Still doing wc. Does reverse ms look good. Indicator coral.
Sorry Rob. It got stung or something. Moved it but it succumbed. Been afraid to tell you.
