I have a new build, 48x20x20. I’ve been a photon user for 10 years and love them but I’m ready to try something different. Every pro seems to be using radions…so…I might go that route

If you want to spend that kind of money grab orphek icons instead. Radions are fine but their price tag suggest they are much better than they are. You could also just grab 3 or 4 quanta led bars and call it a day too.

The crazy part about shanes stuff is how quick it adjusts in my tank, its like i can unpack a box and see new base same week, everytime. That to me is better than the colorful boogs that might make it from other vendors.

Completely dismisses the myths about aquaculture vs mariculture IMO. Healthy coral vs not healthy coral.

Furthermore...most of the pros use radions because that's what they have used forever. Radion was head and shoulders above the game in led lights when led became a thing. Now? There are plenty of options for leds that are just as good and better.

Do you think there is anything as good that is as low profile and small footprint?

The truth about mariculture is told.in about 6-9 months in your tank. Until then..there's no guarantees

Or height. I use the reefis and love them. Very small form factor, tons of power, top tier spectrum, half the price of a radion, 3 year warranty, multiple lenses to choose from.
Yep. Reefi is the best of that size light all around imo. Price wise the icon is comparable to the xr30 buts it's even less $ and xr30 can't compete with an icon

Ive had the same or better survival on maris as anything else so far. Maybe 5 colonies and 3-5 frags. Lost my first mari tenuis when i was still figuring things out. Biggest downside is not having a QT tank presents some serious pest risks.

ok, need help. I had a few torches die from brown jelly. I did kfc dip on torches left in the tank. well this morning, woke up to maybe 4 torches left. This is out of about 35/40. Not gonna cry about it as it comes with reefing but looking for peoples strategies of ridding tank of this so that when I put more torches in they dont die immediately. (Luckily, I have 4 other tanks in the house to put things in if needed)

BTW, I let the kids feed while I was kinda out of commission and well wont do that again. Alk and nitrates are way high. Cal- 380, Mag 1340, Pho .3

Also, did 30 gallon water change and prepared to do another tomorrow after testing again.
