Your trolling motor battery shouldn’t be run past 50% capacity. You probably didn’t have much more life in it last your repair job

FYI I have a big blue cellpowa 600 running my return pump on my 75g reef. It’s a 300$ power station that I got on sale near a holiday for $250

Yeah of course. But those other setups are absolute trash. Especially if hes worried about a hurricane. There wont be any solar available before those dinky 600 and 1k systems are spent. Terrible value relative to a simple inverter group 31 setup and inverter setup. Way more ah, way more scalability (two 31s in parallel) or simply changing out the battery or charging it on your car. A 2k inverter can run ALOT of equipment if needed. Those linked systems cant do that in addition to no capacity.

And i could realistically run my tank for a week if needed off batteries alone. Theres 6 group 31s in my boat. Itndoubles as a hundred gallon gas reserve for the 15kw gennie.

Could run your entire reef for what 3-5 days off 3 of these in parallel and a $300 sine inverter. Thats sub $700.

The AC being out would kill everything without alot of ice or a chiller though, at least in florida.

A diy setup will be better in some ways than a prepackaged solution but this is form factor and still powerful enough to run two days

The problem with your setup is your batteries. Your setup would be fantastic if you used LiFePO4 batteries instead

The issue is you won’t get anywhere near full capacity out of those batteries. They have a lot of storage capability but it’s not all usable.

Also the more you use, the more the output voltage continues to drop

The solution is to scale up and use tons of batteries, or use a battery that’s 90% efficient vs 50-60% efficient

The issue is cost.

There is no better value then 100ah at $100. For emergency use only ancomparable setup in lithium is laughable.

Attaching a black and red wire to a battery isnt DIY unless you automate it with the failover switch, and even thats novice assessable.

The 254 watt hours of the $600 thing that was linked is getting a bath after getting hosed. Terrible value.

Also the inverters have no issue putting out useable watts down to 10.5v, so by your chart im getting 85% efficiency by an EXTREME cost margin - 800%, 400% if you consider 2 batteries over 8-10 years

So ac company has yet to come clean the mold in the old unit. Told them not going to wait a month for them to clean it and if they don't get someone out this week they loose my $500 service contract.
