Good morning all!

How should I separate my roller mat and skimmer from what I'd like to be a small fuge area? This is the sump for a Waterbox FRAG 105.4 the I removed the sock holders from, dimensions are 28.3"×17.7"×15.

Top left is for the return pump, top right is an ATO reservoir.

I'd like some rubble or biomedia and chaeto for nutrient export.

I'd use a small sheet of plexiglass that I drilled or cut holes in personally. But if you have access to a 3 d printer you might be able to make something custom

And provide a habitat, yes. A challenge I have with my AIO is around high nutrient levels.

I want to design the sump in a way as to provide optionality, which includes a fuge.

Question to the group. I am strategizing my plumbing for closed loops. I’m currently looking at a 1-1/2" Single Union PVC Ball Valve FNPT for under each bulkhead….(slip to bulkhead) Problem is finding one that is schedule 80. I found 2” that I could reduce. So- do I reduce and keep it at sch80 or not worry about sch80 and get the 1.5”. Opinions?

The only reason to run schedule 80 in any of our tanks is for color choice. Unless it's some crazy monster tank with a return pump that matches..even then most likely unnecessary

No difference in the valve between 40 & 80? (Sch 40 comes in grey)

Size. The opening for 80 is smaller than 40 because the wall is thicker. Nobodies pump in here needs more than schedule 40 pipe.
I’ve always thought the valve build on sch80 is better and less likely to seize. Good to know
