So, what’s your best guess on what hit the tank? I did talk to my neighbor who was helping watch the tank. Said he did stick his hand in the tank going after the algae clip he dropped. This was right after he was at water volleyball. Has suntan lotion on and whatever was in the pool and still on his skin. This all started the day after I got back from the road trip. Our pools here are saltwater pools.
FWIW I read your thread and am just out of a similar situation after purchasing from the same set of vendors. I have pegged the issue to bacterial exacerbated by my actions. What got me to a happy place was dosing bacteria (prodibio) and time. Large acros that had no pe for years started coming back to life; made me realize I was likely unbalanced for some time. I lost 1000s. Slowing my roll a bit and I trust no vendor implicitly.

To me its some form of disease specific to SPS. The LPS are fine. It moved way too fast and did too much damage within hours. Im going to put a healthy frag in tmrw and see what happens to it. I may do an aquabiomics test if the healthy frag melts, as i need to treat the tank so i can eventually put frags in it lol. I havent done much inspection for pests at this point because theres no way a pest could do this wide spread of damage this fast.
Time to ask the brand and if where he stuck his hand in was relatively in that spot of disaster. oxybenzone and octinoxate, which can contribute to coral bleaching and harm marine life.
However, titanium dioxide nanoparticles can clog coral if ingested and lead to bleaching.

I dosed a vial of prodibio immediately before placing AKLs coral into my second system. I thinknl all the damage was done using a cooler and dipping all of the coral in that cooler. Lesson learned. Sorry to hear man.

If its base up i typically cut them, if its tip or random patches, shane recommends super glueing the tissue loss and extending a little past onto healthy tissue. Ive seen both work. Ive seen both fail. Smaller frags that get fragged smaller have a tough time.
