I know this was like 12 hours ago and you weren't talking to me but im going to tell you about my alk now and you're going to like it.

Since I switched to AFR from soda ash, the dosing instructions told me to add about 3 ml a day as a starting point. After 2 days, I tested and my alk went from about 8.0 to 10.0 but my mag and calcium are a little low. So ive got it shut off until water change, Ill try maybe 1.5 ml a day next time. I was dosing 2 ml of soda ash and it was working perfectly for my alk. Its weird that it shot up so fast but didn't affect my calcium or magnesium with AFR.
3 mL a day might be a lot for your little tank. I'm at 15 ml a day. All For Reef run low on mag, either stay up to date with weekly water changes or dose some mid week.

I've run low on calcium a few times, but that is due to lots of acros. I had 40, down to 30 probably after the outage of the power head and reef Flux killing a couple. I does Aquaforest Build every other night which has some calcium in it.

Wow, nice work! I extended our kitchen cabinets up to the ceiling like that on my own a couple years ago...my wife's idea. I'd really like to upgrade to those shaker doors, but that is out of my level of woodworking.

By the time we make doors it's a wash vs just ordering them in most cases time wise

Which..if someone is just doing it themselves it would probably be worth making them...but we can make money elsewhere while ordering

I have Merletti and Wellsi. I had a Vivida but it got unalived.

My Merlettis grow individual heads but when they're open they look similar to a large polyped Leptastrea. When they close, they look similar to a large polyp Goni.

I was wondering if this orange one i have might be a Vivida, it grows a little funny compared to my wellsi and merletti

I've also read Blastosmussa merletti, each head has an individual stem. Which seems true for some. But I've read other people's comments about them growing more like an encrusting coral. I have some merletti which definitely have individual heads and stems. Then another one labeled as merletti but grows more like an encrusting/mounding brain coral. You can't really distinguish individual bodies when retracted.

So is this a blasto merletti or was it mislabeled?

Or will we see another classification of the Blastomussa?

Vivida can have huge heads, like a rock flower anemone. They are also solitary and have a small collection of heads and don't split frequently. https://reefbuilders.com/2021/05/13/blastomussa-vivida-is-blooming-at-pacific-east-aquaculture/
I never looked into it. Just seemed like an oddball, seems different than the wellsi i have and definitely not a merletti, so i just wondered, the vivida was the only other type i have heard of. could be just a bit on the weird side, don't worry much about what type they are kinda like the line from tropic thunder, (parafrased probably, didn't bother to look it up). "i don't know what its called, i just know the sound it makes when it takes a mans life"

i just know they look cool

Hey guys I just jumped into the SPS game in the last few weeks and things are doing great (knock on wood). I recently won my first SPS from Shane. Green crack frag. In your opinion what next step coral should I look for from Shane? Currently have Green crack SBB monti , OG slimer and Rainbow “Rommel”. Thank you
