Best of both worlds, sand in a low flow reactor. bacteria get a place to grow and nitrify, you get to keep sand out of your display, although I am very much a sand in the display kinda guy.I could throw some dry sand in my sump though?! I just thought of it.....
First yes or no . Good idea?!
1. Sand in sump?
2. Old dry sand , never opened, kept in bag for 2 years. Any concerns?
Would go in sump compartment with skimmer.
Good for smaller systems. I would for Sure plumb one into a bare bottom sps 90g cube.Best of both worlds, sand in a low flow reactor. bacteria get a place to grow and nitrify, you get to keep sand out of your display, although I am very much a sand in the display kinda guy.
Turnover of the reactor keeps detritus from caking the sand up.
Four hours, every other day will essentially Stop it from growing, and not make it die off.Lololol. I'm dying. I know I turned it down to 4 hours. Idk why it was at 12 hours.
Everything counts, it's better when everything counts in large amounts, Definitely need more rock, and super porous rock, for denitrification, but honestly I wonder sometimes if there's enough surface area in bb tanks to quickly convert ammonia.Good for smaller systems. Big water volume needs big surface area. Sand beats rock for surface area every time. Nate doesn't have much of either.
I'm honestly less concerned with dealing with Ammonia than I am having a diverse microbiome. I go minimal on rock, but it's Enough. Ammonia events are not a constant thing and I use enough rock and sand to deal. Unsightly things in our tanks being out completed and the tank stabilization overall, I believe has a lot to do with that.Everything counts, it's better when everything counts in large amounts, Definitely need more rock, and super porous rock, for denitrification, but honestly I wonder sometimes if there's enough surface area in bb tanks to quickly convert ammonia.
Was getting the munchies. So I got some lunch meat out, cheese, crackers.
We got chicken breast lunch meat. Then I got to thinking this chicken had to have one large breast to fit a single slice on a sandwich and not be able to see bread.
I want a divorce... your constant rambling is tiresome.Right can't vac sand in a sump easy, talked me out of it.
Yeah! If @F i s h y will still have my hand in rock marriage. Or I'll have to drive to @fishguy242s and take a whole weekend. I'm off next week all week I prob could lol.
