Good choices too but you want to look from a design stand point that you want fish on all levels in your tank as not only bottom dwellers.
A balance is what we looking for ;)

I agree and good point! I was asking about other goby options from a previous thread

I'm upgrading to a 180 custom tank. 60x30x24 high. It will be a mixed reef.

Currently have a
Black Clown
Neon Goby
Cleaner shrimp
Emerald Crab
BTA

Thinking about adding in no particular order:
Kole Yellow Eyed Tang
McCosker Flasher Wrasse
Mystery Wrasse
Red Head Solon Wrasse
One Spot Foxface
Purple Firefish

Other suggestions and order would be great. I am not firm on any of these fish so fire away. Thank you for the help

Mystery wrasses can become a problem to other wrasses as they get older.

I would recommend the firefish first, followed by the Mckosker, then solorensis, then foxface, and the tang last.

Another cool option, but I would be reluctant to recommend adding one to a 40g with a mandarin, both are big consumers of copepods.

True if they only eat pods but they are so easy to train on frozen Mysis.
Even eating frozen they need to eat nearly constantly, so will still place a huge demand on the pod population. While human digestive tracts bend and alot og nutrition is pulled from our food, not so with dragonets. Their digestive tract is a small, straight line, so in order to stay nourished dragonets pick at copepods every few seconds. Some estimates have a single dragonet consuming 2,000 copepods a day.A couple feedings of frozen mysis won't put much of a dent into their dietary needs.

I'm never to old to learn............ 2000 pods a day WOW!
I must have millions in my tank with three of these beauty's round and fat in my tank.
Considered that these are smaller than the average green dragonets they must maybe be eat less or am I wrong?

They will probably need less, but I'm not sure if it's a significant drop in pod consumption.

@Aquaph8 What angel fish would you recommend that are reef safe for a 40 gallon tank? I heard coral beauties, any others?

In a 40 gallon your pretty limited. Coral beauty or flame would probably be your best options but I wouldn't exactly call them safe. I wouldn't put a Genicanthus angel in a tank that small. Honestly, I feel my best advice would be skip angels all together unless your ok with some nipping.

@Aquaph8 @eatbreakfast .....I'm having a reaaaaallllyyy hard time deciding if I want a cherub angel in my 20L. Other fish will be pink streaked wrasse, and tailspot blenny. I have really become more of a "fish" person, but I still absolutely LOVE having coral. I guess I'm mostly worried because I like higher end sps/lps, and I'm sure you know they aren't all that cheap. I did notice @SunnyX added a cherub, so that made me lean a little more in the Angels favor. If I do end up getting it do you see a problem adding it first?

It's a risk for corals, some are fine, some aren't. SPS should be ok, LPS may be more at risk.

If you do get it add it last, as it will likely get defensive of the rockwork.

Hello,

The Cherub Angel has been a nice addition to my reef. At the moment I do not have many corals in my tank but the Cherub has yet to nip at anything, at least from what I can see. I have a some Montis, SPS, Zoas, and Ricordeas that are all doing fine and exhibiting lush polyp extension. I did place the zoas on the left size of the reef, away from the Cherubs cave/territory. He never ventures too far from his territory so they should be safe.

The Cherub gets along just fine with the clowns. She's actually quite the fish, darting in and our from amongst the rock work. She's not an open water swimmer so you wont see her around unless you're feeding or poking around her cave.

As others have stated, not all angels are created equal. Some will nip while others wont. Its really the luck of the draw.

It should be fine in this setting. They are more peaceful than most other damsels, but can still take care of themselves.
