Lots of great things happening in my tank today!

1. Hammer coral is splitting from 2 heads to 4 heads! Or maybe just 2 heads to 3 heads, but still!

2. Coraline growth is happening! Splotches of it are appearing on my return pump flow director, and my power head!

3. I see no aiptasia!! Folks, if you need to get rid of aiptasia, get berghia!

4. My leptoseris has stopped receeding. I never talked about it, buy day by day little pieces of the coral showed skeleton. I placed something on the lid to shade it, and now it looks like the receeding has drastically slowed down.

5. My mangrove has finally pushed out the 2 new leaves

6. My firefish appeared to have mucus plugs all over its body. I thought maybe it was ich, but the dots are going away, and my firefish is still eating.

Capital corals, my LCS (Local coral store) said they would take my nudibranchs, so I've caught three so far. I will probably go tomorrow or this weekend. I don't want them to starve, though. The spines on the ones I've caught are white. How long do you think I could wait before they starve?

5 to 7 days, that's what I've read out there but I could be wrong.

Good to hear that a lot of stuff is happening!! I bet it's super cool seeing some coral split, some of mine have also been splitting and growing! My candy cane looks like its going from 2 to 4 heads, my acans have babies coming out, my mushroom is moving/dropping babies, and my zoas have new polyps! It's so cool to see such growth!

Also good to hear coraline is starting! I know we started our tanks around the same time, mine has had coraline for a little bit now, it has grown over most the back wall, my powerhead, and I have seen some spots on the rocks!

And OMG, so happy to hear you have no more aiptasia!!!!!!! It took a while for the berghia to settle in, but looks like they ate it up!

Hopefully your firefish will be all good! It honestly sounds similar to the bump one of my clowns had, it went away with some time! Maybe feeding some extra nutrients/vitamins such as selcon or beta-glucan can help! I feed some every now and then, not that often.

Happy reefing Walker! It's almost the weekend :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Really love this update Walker! Good info, in a concise format.

Not to mention everything looks to be doing really well!

So I finally went to turn in my nudibranchs today. Turns out they have new summer hours, and they're closed on weekends. So, all 9 that I caught did unfortuantly die. I quickly learned not to keep them at tank temperature as that increases the chances of them rotting (like mine did), so, rookie mistake. I caught 2 over the weekend and found out they were closed, so I released them. Fast forward to this morning, I caught 4. I finally was able to bring them in. He immediately said I could get a coral. He said I could get an indo pacific yuma ricordea, which I was happy about. Mine looks a little bleached at the moment, but I know it should color up soon. Pictures are coming soon!

So, I have a few updates regarding equipment.

1. I finally got an ATO. I just finished setting it up, and so far, everything is going well.

2. My heater failed... my tank has been steady at 73 since last night. I have a new heater coming later, and I also ordered an ink bird controller, so hopefully, when this happens, I catch it earlier.

I am going on vacation next week, so I am trying to get a lot of things done, for example, getting my ato and setting up the ink bird. Everything in the tank is doing well, and like I've said before, my tank is finally becoming stable.

I was bit once. That was the last time she bit me though. It's a very interesting story.

Here's how it went......

Remember Memory Lane GIF by Alayna Joy

I used to have a 5 gallon AIO (still do, but now it's my Betta tank at work). Anyways, one of my corals had fallen over so I reached in to fix it. My clown attacked! When she bit me, I yanked my hand out of the tank and she came with it and went flying! She landed on the ground with a thud. Quickly I scooped her up (dog hair and all) and tossed her back in the tank. She was stunned and swim weird for about 5-10 minutes, but then she recovered. This was almost 4 years ago, maybe closer to 5 now. Ever since that day, when I come anywhere near the tank she runs to a back corner and hides.

I finally set up my InkBird. Doing so made me realize my thermometer was wrong, and my tank had been at 87 for at least a week. My heater failed and never turned off. I was wondering why my hammer coral was dying, and why my tank evaporated so much water in a day. It all makes perfect sense now. The tank is now at 80 degrees, so hopefully my hammer coral starts to recover. It was just a stupid mistake I made. But luckily my leptoseris looks fine; which is my most difficult coral. All my fish are fine too. I leave for vacation tomorrow, so I am going to do a waterchange today. Fingers crossed everything goes well.
