You're right down the road from me, have we met?!? I love in Richmond Hill and have a 405 reef. Great build and would enjoy seeing the tank in person!

Hello! I don’t believe we’ve met. I have visited Coastal Aquarium a couple times but that’s about it.

I would love to see your tank as well.....405 gallon!!!!!

SPS dominate!!!

When I take my wife to the Savannah mall I usually head over to Exotic Underworld for something to do. I could easily head your way as well.

I’ll let you know when I’m down that way. Likewise if you’re up this way.

Either way, we can work something out.

Mike

My zoas I got from the cherry corals live sale this past summer took a week, low flow and medium light to come out. Hope it comes to be for u as well. I always enticed with reef roids around them 2x a week.

Clove polyps are so finicky. I've had 3 different mini colonies go from great to crap in a week and die. I gave up on them for now. Such beautiful colonies when they are thriving tho.

Yeah, mine are still closed up. I think 3 days, 2 of them in the 60’s isn’t helping.

I’m planning on grouping all the zoas together on the right side for a zoa garden.

I really like that look as well!

Got the UV hooked back up today while the granddaughter napped.

Cleaned the bulb and tube with vinegar.

First time cleaning that and it wasn’t to bad. I wrapped the bulb with paper towels then soaked with vinegar.

Worked great!

I then lowered the UV filter and used flex tube to connect to my old feed pump with is now in the return chamber with the feed pump.

So if my feed pump ever fails or I pull it to clean, I can easily disconnect the main return pump and reconnect to the UV pump.

I have a small outbreak of cyano and I’m anxious to see if having the UV back on line clears it up. Never had it till about a week after I shut it down.

After a week of only changing filter socks and emptying the skimmer and dosing, I cleaned the glass and tested after skipping last weekend.

1.026
77 degrees
Alk 8.3
NO3 8
PO4 0

Nitrates and phosphates getting to low.

Surprised after adding the flame angel and coral beauty and blenny.

I’m now keeping nori in every day, 2 small pellet feedings and one live foods in the evening.

I think a larger return pump is allowing me to collect more waste faster as socks only last a day and a half.

Also, I think my 4 liters of Seachem matrix and denitrate are kicked in.

I’m cutting nopox back to 5 ml from 10.

I’m really hoping to stop dosing nopox.

I have another 2 liters of denitrate to add to the sump and the algae reactor should be growing some GHA soon.

Got a nice pic of my BTA last night.
It’s starting to “bubble up” a bit more.

I’m trying to figure out why, although I never will!

So what’s different is:

Cranked up lights another 5%, 2nd gyre has been in a while, and nitrates went from 14-16 to 8.

Since Late March it has mostly looked like this

Now it’s bubbling more and more each day

What do you all think?

Thanks everyone!

When I asked, “what do you think?”, I was really just asking your thoughts on why it may be bubbling up now with the list of changes I provided.

I’m clueless.

But thanks for the compliments on my nem! I wish my clowns loved it as much as I do!

If they had a brain, I would say they have a mind of their own!

I wonder if it's the flow. I had some splits in my 65 that really bubbled up once I added a gyre to the mix. Looks great!

Thanks buddy! How you doin?

Any snow yet?

None sticking, but my pond has about 3 inches of ice on it. No snow in the for cast, looks to be a brown Christmas right now! How is life down there? Heading to Myrtle Beach in July, but if I remeber correctly that's a haul from you
