These comments are great!! When I first started, I topped off my tank with saltwater, it wasnt until 6 months in, that I realized that salt does not evaporate and the salinity only gets higher. There was a reason my corals werent doing well hahahaha
I was worse! My salinity was low I'd just toss in marine salt crystals. Needless to say, that didn't work out so well! Murdered a few fish :loudly-crying-face:

first off i think the most important part of reefing is patience. So many people get into this hobby and set up a reef tank and want to throw corals in before its even cycled, or they wanna jump right into certain corals that are hard to keep. 2nd i would say stability. Make sure you buy the proper testing kits, I used hanna mainly but the apex trident keeps an eye on my alk, cal and mag daily. Testing will ensure that your thank is staying within its perameters throughout the day. 3rd, when you purchase any frags, dip and inspect to make sure you are not putting any critters in you thank that will kill other inhabitants. 4th if you plan on going with a reef thank, please do your research when it comes to species you put into the tank. You dont wanna put in a trigger that will eat all ur coral. 5th, QT your fish, I cannot tell you how many people deal with parasites, they buy a new fish and throw it in the tank and kill all their fish because of one simple task. QT QT QT. Even if you dont see it, does not mean they are not carrying a parasite. There is so many things that go into running a reef tank and people just want to jump right in.

I have done this too! Dropping salinity is much less stressful than a quick rise in salinity.

I think I burned the crap out of their gills, poor things! Didn't have any corals at that point or I'm sure I would have murdered them as well.

Nespresso machine for the win lol
I was looking at them but May get a dilonghi manual machine and just make a 2:1 water out to coffee weight extraction seems to make for ideal crema. Things u start to think about close to retirement. Lol
