Yes they can! The regular big polyp acans are classified as micromussa lordhowensis (formerly acanthastrea lordhowensis) and the smaller polyp acans are micromussa amakusensis. they can touch with no issues but the amakusensis is a smaller polyp

Yep, as long as they're all Lordhowensis. Micromussa (Micro) is the newish classification for Acan Lordhowensis. Some still use the Acan prefix while others use the Micro prefix.
