Any tips? I hear you should feed them quite a bit. Maybe i wasn’t feeding them enough.
I broadcast feed once or twice every week or two. Reef Roids, Reef Jerky, Reef Candy, Coral Cane, and Benepets. One, some, or all depending on what I feel like.

Thanks! Do they prefer low light? Would moderate lighting work?
Mine sit on the sand bed and get decent flow - not super heavy. Heavy flow makes them short and fluffy, medium flow makes them long and wavy.

Thanks man! So many cool Goni color variations out there. Seems like they are fast growers too.
They can be. Iodine/iodide is supposedly helpful for Gonis as well.

I heard that as well. I saw something about trace elements being vital for gonis. I think it was iodine and manganese. Julian Sprung from Two Little Fishies had a YouTube video in it.

Yep! Gonis aren't as difficult as most people think as long as your tank is mature. You'll lose some along the way just like anything else. They tend to be happier in dirtier tanks like @Mschmidt said.

I feed reef blizzard lps pellets, coral feast (not sure the brand) and phyto. They also grab whatever frozen I drop in that particular day. I think the faster growers are the ones that can snag more fish food. Could also be that they were in better flow and light.

I'm going to make a goni mountain in the new setup. Or just coat the back wall.

Thanks for the tips! I have an LPS dominant tank and gonis should do well now. I moved mine quite a bit (beginner reefer here) and learned from my mistake lol.

Gonis are definitely a favorite for me! I have found that mine are doing best underneath an overhang in my tank. Lower par and medium flow is what they get. However like others have said they can be temperamental and you might have to move them around a couple times like I did until they find their happy place and open up!

Let them sit for a day or two. Same as torches they may take a couple days to settle in. Moving them too often can stress them out and cause them to GoniJD (best description I can come up with). Similar to BJD - some sort of bacterial infection that takes over but isn't contagious that I've seen.

Is that when they turn brown? Exactly what happened to mine. I thought it was algae initially.
