New ATO from Target for $15 with lid for easy refilling!

Hmm, not quite there yet. Ah, perfect!

What ATO are you using? And the light? I think I missed these bits. Got in on the diy acrylic build and I'm gonna need a small light and another top off. Have some in cart at Amazon but thought I'd ask.

The light is a Noopsyche K7 Mini. ATO is.. I'll have to check. It was a nano ATO on sale at BRS. I like it because it is a HOB instead of an external pump or a pump that goes into the ATO container. Relatively quiet. But all ATOs are designed to go off while you're on a video call so that everyone thinks you're peeing.

That, my dear reader, is an AT-AT, custom built by @tbrown . His wrasses have been scheming to bring it down but lack the cables or any other type of cord to clip it at the legs. Perhaps if Tim had placed some macroalgae, but alas, so much for the rebel resistance.

A true classic line. Thanks for making me and my wife spit coffee.

Oh no, what have I done!? Started re-organizing the sand bed. Now I don't know what I want to do next. Hammer rock island is in a tupper getting ready for a cipro dip. I think it needs to be relocated to a lower par area.

Man, I wish I had your job...I get nervous about even doing a 5 gal quick water change during business hours with my bosses around.... :face-with-tears-of-joy:

I always shut the door when I start hand pulling algae "just in case".

Funny you mention that, CFO came in while I had my whole arm in the tank! I'll make up for it, though!

I am dumb. I am so dumb. Anyone remember this marvel of modern engineering? The brainchild of my miserliness and passion for clams?
1708751492480.jpeg

Well, I splurged and got a Kessil a160we to do things proper. No more __oops, guess word for illegitimate child is censored__ inventions, we're marrying a Kessil reflector with a Kessil light and watching the clams bask in glorious spotlight! BOOM:
1708751832863.jpeg

At some point reading comprehension became one of my deficiencies, because I missed the part where the Kessil 35 degree reflector doesn't pop onto an a160we and we're off. In fact, it doesn't fit on one at all. It fits on an a360 or a500.

So folks, we've gone from this:
1708751966250.jpeg

to this:
1708751986328.jpeg

and down $160, which could have gotten me a nice clam.

Hail to the King, baby. I'm going to go be sick, now.

I wish I had something better to report there. I noticed pods darting in and out of the back of its shell, so I decided to remove it from the clam cage and check it out. It did not close when I gently picked it up, so not responsive. It still has flesh, but it's not looking good.

I'm putting zero pressure on the clam here, just letting gravity move it around my hand. It did shut itself briefly when I put it on the sand bed, so not all hope lost. With the new Kessil, I can easily hit 400 PAR on its spot at low intensity, so hopefully it gets enough energy to bounce back. Fingers crossed, hoping for a happy end to this story. I'll be clam shopping tomorrow for a derasa or a squammie.

Just a point of information. My friend who does mussel/oyster breeding aquaculture reports when they open a shell to get eggs/sperm there is a lot of pods. Do you do live Phyto?
Yes, I do, and I've been surprised by how many pods I find when I remove coral to clean them up like I did today--clipped off all the vermetids from my hammer and octo, lots of pods milling around the bottom of the rock. Wrasses decimated them from the glass and on top of the rocks, but they are still in there somewhere.

Haven't lost hope on the clam yet. Long way to go though, I think. Going to see what Clammania has tomorrow.

Got a few zoas for you but didn't get to mount all of them, so some are on small bits of rubble. Might be able to stick them on plugs quickly tomorrow. Do you want a pink nepthea as well?
