Tried you PM you back but your Inbox was full. To get the nice paint job you need the Gloss Rustoleum White paint. This is standard paint that you can pick up off the shelf.

First, sand the plywood until it's perfectly smooth, I saw that you bought the nice plywood so this shouldn't be too much work.

Next, between each coat sand with wet-dry sandpaper, you can start with 200 grit and move up to 600 or 1000 as you add coats. I recommend three total coats, be sure you paint the edges of the plywood well and don't over-sand the edges, otherwise your nice coat of paint will end up having bare-wood showing on the corners! Be very careful during this step. You should lightly mist the surface with water before and during sanding.

On the final coat you can sand with ultra-high grit sandpaper or just buff with a brown paper-bag (equivalent to 3000 grid). Then you can choose to add a coat of clear poly. I can't recall if I did or not.

My finish has held up really well over the years, very happy with it. I've done this process on two stands with both black and white paint. The more smooth you get between coats the better the final product :)

So Marineland tank has screwed up my plan. My 93g cube build is going to end here.

So much time and effort been putting into this build . what a bummer.
When I took the tank out for a leak test for the first time out of the box, all silicone joints have bubbles from top to bottom. Bubbles goes away when tank has no water....

No more Marineland/Perfecto tank for me. I had better luck with Glasscages and and other custom made tank than Marineland Perfector tank.

the store where I bought the tank is not taking it back because I bought the tank 4 months ago.
I called Marineland and they said it should be safe. I do not feel comfortable using this tank.
In addition to the sillicon expansion, the tank has some chip on the bottom of the glass as well. You do not get to see the chip uptil you upside the tank.
I do not want to keep thinking the tank when it's going to happen all the time.

thank you everyone.

My first 93 cube I got had a chip in the corner of the tank. Lfs would not take it back or do anything to help me. I called marineland explained to them that I got a broken tank and they gave me a full refund. Keep calling them. They might work with you.

Call marineland. They just might give you a new tank. Explain the part about the chip not the bubbles

please stand by. this build might become live again.

Today Marineland contacted me and said that they will exchange another tank for me and asked me to send them the receipt.
So let's see what next...
