Fritz bacteria in bottle spiked ammonia

I’m run ing several qt tanks and usually dose fritz turbo start bacteria with a sponge filter. Its worked well. Today i set up another tank and used a new bottle of turbo start and noticed the bottle bacteria has lots of gunk in it. Yes I did shake well.

Now I see my ammonia spiked to around .40 total (in 1 hr). Never seem this happen before. Prior to dosing it was 0

is my bacteria bottle spoiled? It arrived this week but may have been hot in the ups truck.

Likely what happened. Take the bottle outside, carefully remove the top and fan your hand over the top and see if it smells bad?
