I love how all these fish look! I’ve been looking at the radiant wrasse but it came with an expert only tag on live aquaria, any reason why?
The only reason is theyre quite bad with shipping. However, if you get them from an LFS they’re generally the nicest fish you can keep.

Correct me if I’m wrong but that is one of the easier leopards to keep right?
Yep! They’re amazing with their ease of care.
I love mine - photoed infront of the Aquamarinus in the previous post.

Ah I see.

I’ve narrowed the list down to this:

Yellow Wrasse
Naoko Fairy Wrasse
Earmuff Wrasse
Red Head Solon

From these I already have the yellow wrasse, previously I had the radiant wrasse in the list as well but from what I’ve read it might fight with these fish here and it also had an expert only tag so I dropped it. I would love to add it back again, what do you think? Should I go for it?

Also I have an ornate leopard wrasse and I really want to replace it with the white leopard wrasse but I want a female, if it’s the only leopard in the tank will she eventually turn into a male? Is there any way to not make that happen

I don’t know if it’s only me or not but I really like how the female looks, more than the male. I really want to get one but only if it stays a female. Is that possible? Or if it’s the only leopard in the tank, it will eventually transition?

And as for the radiant I’ll only get it if it gets along with all my other wrasses. I’ve also heard that they need a little better quality water and are like the powder blues of the wrasse world as they easily and frequently get infected with ich. Let me know if these are true.

TIA!!

Concerning a Radiant, I have one and they are very bad shippers, which I believe is the main reason they're considered 'expert only'. I ended up driving for several hours to pick up one directly from Dr. Reef, who was very reluctant to ship Radiants, as they typically never survived the shipping process. I've had my Radiant for over a year and it's shown zero aggression and is a model citizen (it gets along perfectly with my leopard, yellow coris (yes, I still call it that!), equisite fairy and McCosker's flasher).

I highly recommend one, but only if you're able to pick it up yourself and if it has no damage to its mouth, which can occur during the initial shipping process. If you find one at a LFS, be sure that there's no visible damage to its mouth and have them show you that it's eating.

Ah I see, there aren’t any radiants here and the ones that were brought in by the lfs died during and or right after shipping. I guess I’ll stick with these wrasses for now and once I gain more experience as well as get a bigger tank I’ll get it!
