When I was in high school, my friend had to get rescued there. We had no problem however. That place preps you for diving. If you can do Sandy’s, you can dive.

I’m a huge rock fan. I played in punk bands in my late teens and early twenties.
If you used to play in a punk band....
Check out "Night Birds" on you tube.

Punx not dead.
:)

Ive been listening to the Tedeschi Trucks Band a lot, lately.
TRUE music aint dead....its just harder to find.
'younger people' tend to drive whats "pop" and whats not.....
hence, the talentless rap and the 16-bit dance hall crap that dominates the airwaves these days.
no offense, kids.

Fugazi
Agent Orange
Skinny Puppy
Dead Milkmen
Ramones

the art almost seems lost on kids these days, but, I got my brothers 3rd kid asking to hear "Waiting Room" in the car and he asked him, "How do you know THAT song?"

His reply?
"Uncle Monkey let me listen to it."

LOVE that kid.

I’m a big old school AFI fan. Hate their stuff post 2000 or so. But I like some of their blaqk audio stuff. Worth a listen. Reminds me of skinny puppy a bit.

Sometimes I feel like I have to take up mumble rap just so I can order a sandwich these days.

Next time instead of saying "no tomato, no pickle, no spinach. Everything else" I might try "Uuuunnnggghh, nah nah nah nah!" and point to the things I don't want on each nah.

I hit 40 this year and I find it hilarious that 80s and 90s music is now playing on our local oldies radio station. I'm lucky to love most genres of music... Rock, alternative, EDM, hip hop, country, jazz, classical, R&B, pop, etc. You get the point. (Sorry metal heads... Other than Metallica, not really into metal).

I would argue that rock and alternative have been on the decline since they peaked in the 90s. Hip hop was then all the rage in the 2000s. In the 2010s, pop, hip hop/R&B hybrid and EDM took the center stage. However other bands in the rock and alternative continued to put out music... Just not at the quantity we saw in the 90s.

I don't think music is dying... It's just continuing its evolution. This conversation has occurred throughout history. I've read historical accounts of people arguing that music died when classical music died.

We're just getting older... And for some of us, we love listening to what we grew up listened to when we were younger and new music doesn't appeal to us. And that's totally okay, there is something totally comforting in listening to something that brings a bit of nostalgia.

There are some people who are having the same discussion about movies and argue that they are on the decline because of CGI. :p

Oldies station.....I think I hear it at the SUPERMARKET! I think I've even heard Phish as elevator music.

Anyone in there 50's and 60's notice 70's music being used in commercials targeted to us? A popular Fleetwood Mac song comes to mind.

If you liked thrice and scary kids scaring kids have you checked out every time I die. They have been putting out killer music since they started. Granted it was 4 years ago but their album low teens is awesome.

I’m a big fan or these guys. One of my go-to bands for running. Seen them live at least five times.

Have you checked out the newest Modern Life is War album? It’s now 5-6 years old, but super good and along the same lines as ETID.

If you used to play in a punk band....
Check out "Night Birds" on you tube.

I also like these guys.

I’m a big old school AFI fan. Hate their stuff post 2000 or so.

Same here! I was a huge fan of these guys. I can’t even count how many times I saw them live in the early 2000s. I once saw them play in a bar to less than 50 people. It really felt like they were doing something unique back then. It was all down hill after The Art of Drowning..although I do like Sing the Sorrow a bit.

Some stuff I’m into these days:
-Choke Up
-Defheaven
-Angeldu$t
-Pears
-Dilly Dally
-Single Mother’s
-Pup
-......and I also listen to quite a bit of rap

every generation says the same thing. The new generation will say the same thing 20 years from now. You have your own tastes, so will the new gen, no one cares
Nah!! Music was kind of dying in the late 90s and has just about been dead from 2000 onward. Yes good songs still come out but nothing like in the past. In the 80s you had a new hit song coming out every week, sometimes two a week.

The truth is that there are tons on people today who can sing and play great music but almost nobody left who can write great music. It’s so bad that a cookie cutter music industry has been formed by Max Martin and “Dr” Luke who I think are both from Canada. They have both written 90% of the songs that have made the music charts in the last 20 years. That’s why all the stuff sounds the same or is a rip from an older song. They sell their songs to all the well known musicians of today.
