Like i said, it didn't disappoint... IMO. I can listen to utube on my phone.
I’ll give it a try. Funny story. My friends and I hopped a fence after an awesome Tool concert in Honolulu. We met Justin and Danny. They were so cool. Some other people told us what hotel they were staying at. So we went with our Tool CDs and actually met Justin and Danny again they were so cool. Danny would only sign with a purple pen. My friend had a blue sharpie and he made a compromise. We saw Maynard in the lobby of the hotel holding a parrot and he was with his wife. He saw us and knew we were after him. He told us “next time guys”. We respected his privacy. That’s was when we were 15, 20 years ago.

Im the same age group as you guys, born in the early 70’s. Also work in the music industry so I guess that help a little in finding something good. It’s out there, just got to search for it.
Im iTunes heavy as I haven’t really graduated to Pandora or whatever streaming site is big right now. But Tool is available online in ITunes. They opened the gates just before the new album released.

apple radio is ehh if wanted to combine your itunes and streaming in one app. I do hear a lot of new sounds and artist but can’t say they are always in my taste lol. But occasionally i can add bands ive never heard before. College radio is my other source for music that hasnt yet hit the marketing machine yet, so still “fresh” as cliche as that sounds lol.

I hit 40 this year and I find it hilarious that 80s and 90s music is now playing on our local oldies radio station. I'm lucky to love most genres of music... Rock, alternative, EDM, hip hop, country, jazz, classical, R&B, pop, etc. You get the point. (Sorry metal heads... Other than Metallica, not really into metal).

I would argue that rock and alternative have been on the decline since they peaked in the 90s. Hip hop was then all the rage in the 2000s. In the 2010s, pop, hip hop/R&B hybrid and EDM took the center stage. However other bands in the rock and alternative continued to put out music... Just not at the quantity we saw in the 90s.

I don't think music is dying... It's just continuing its evolution. This conversation has occurred throughout history. I've read historical accounts of people arguing that music died when classical music died.

We're just getting older... And for some of us, we love listening to what we grew up listened to when we were younger and new music doesn't appeal to us. And that's totally okay, there is something totally comforting in listening to something that brings a bit of nostalgia.

There are some people who are having the same discussion about movies and argue that they are on the decline because of CGI. :p

I think as we get get older, time goes on, music has just evolved. What we liked 20-30 years ago certainly isn't around today much. Yet there is still some good artists... I like Maroon 5, Fall Out Boys Ect....

Whenever I buy an album on ITunes, I always click the related button and find the “ listener’s also bought” section. You can spend days going through and finding stuff you never heard of.
That’s what brought me to this conundrum. I’m either directed to older music or horrible new stuff. I’ve conceded: I’m old.
