Official Entry: Targeted parameter stability through regular testing, helped keep coloration better as well as faster growth.

Daily Question from 6/25: I started attempting to grow coral in 2013 - so that would be 11 years, but have been more successful after getting more educated since 2015 so that would be the last 9 years.

Daily Question from 6/26: My most rewarding accomplishment has been having someone I've given a frag to get excited to after it encrusts and really starts to grow in. First the feeling of knowing that I was able to keep the coral happy enough to grow it out large enough to frag and share, but then to see them get so excited when the coral continued to grow in their tank.

Daily Question from 6/27: I really have enjoyed different montipora and birdsnest species, but for whatever reason the classic "Jedi Mind Trick" monti holds a special place with me.

Daily Question from 6/28: I started with some used MH, then some black box LEDs, but the last 8 years I've been using the exact same set of AI Hydra 26HDs so I'm going to say those have been the best for me mainly due to the fact that they were my first controllable light and I haven't had to replace them yet.

Daily Question from 6/29: I am an occasional fragger at best, usually just when corals are encroaching too much or it is time to share with someone. I would love to get to the point where I could frag enough to support my tank with the frags from the tank - but I think everyone would love to do that too.

Daily Question from 6/30: I have used RHF's DIY recipes in the past as well as BRS additives, Red Sea additives are more of what I am using in most of my tanks now. I like the idea of using a calcium reactor as in theory the major and trace elements get replenished in the same ratios that corals use them in.

Daily Question from 7/1: For acclimating corals, I float them, put them in a coral dip while floating, then put them on a frag rack in the tank to light acclimate for a week before placing out in the rocks.

Daily Question from 7/2: For pest/disease prevention I'm doing very little in reality, I'm trying to be very selective with where I shop and what corals I'm choosing. Any corals I do purchase are dipped and put on a frag rack in the tank so they have at least some isolated observation even though they are in the same tank, I do keep some fish an inverts that are known to eat pests but that's more of treatment that it is prevention.

Daily Question from 7/3: My biggest set back was having one of my tanks having to be torn down due to a seam failure. It was a 125gal and the front panel shifted 1/8" to the right one week (was using a magnetic scraper and went around the corner and when I went to bring it back it hit a lip). Ended up tearing down the tank and shoving everything into multiple smaller tanks. It was years before I got a bigger tank again.

Daily Question from 7/4: I believe nutrients in a reef tank are a necessary evil, they should be present but managed. I carbon dose with vodka (cheap Member's Mark brand) to keep them down if they start to come up with only set goals of NO3 0<5 and PO4 .02<.04.

Daily Question from 7/5: Flow is vital to coral growth. First the obvious, they (mostly) can't move to source food so it must be brought to them via the current. Second, the flow will determine their growth pattern. Third, good flow will evenly distribute element and nutrients throughout the tank while helping remove detritus.

Daily Question from 7/6: I don't regularly target feed unless a coral isn't doing well, but I do broadcast foods meant for the corals to consume. Mainly copepod powder, rotifers, phytoplankton, and amino acids.
