Daily Question from 7/8: I remember seeing a video from Mr. Saltwatertank years ago shared be a friend talking about how some of the trace elements are believed to impact different color pigments when they get too high/low. So I test my trace elements; mainly Iron, Potassium, and Iodine; and try to keep those in the recommended ranges.

I know there's also a theory out there about the relationship between lighting intensity and nutrients levels. But I'm not sure how much stock I put into it yet but it might be worth looking into.

Daily Question from 7/10: I monitor my Trace Elements with home tests for Fe (Hanna), I (Salifert), K (Salifert), and any others via ICP but I only put like 85% confidence in ICP testing. It's kinda like playing darts with a hatchet, did you it the trip 20 or just the 20?

Daily Question from 7/12: My most successful strategy has been to keep things stable and leave things alone as much as possible.

Daily Question from 7/13: I don't know if I do much actively to increase polyp extension, the most I do is try to consistently feed in the same 15-30 minute window everyday and I do use AB+ as part of that feeding routine.

Daily Question from 7/14: I prefer, as much as possible I guess, to learn about coral care from published scientific literature but it isn't always readily available. My second favorite resource is R2R.

Daily Question from 7/16: To help deal with coral warfare/chemical warfare I run carbon to remove toxins from the water and try to maintain spacing of corals when initially placing them.

Daily Question from 7/17: I go for a stacked natural look with caverns and arches. While some of the big counterbalanced aquascapes in the magazines are really cool they are what I see when I go diving so they aren't what I want when I build a tank. However, I do try to stack in a way to maximize open space for fish to swim through and have plenty of nooks and crannies to hide in.

Daily Question from 7/18: So far I have been lucky not to have encountered RTN and I have no active protocols to prevent it. I will cross that bridge if and when I get to it.

Daily Question from 7/19: I have a large frag rack the stays just outside of my 240gal and when needed can be placed just under my gyre on the left end of the tank to acclimate new corals, other than that I do not long term keep frag racks in my tank or leave space for them.

Daily Question from 7/20: My advice to a newbie:
Pick a salt brand a stick to it, match the parameters (Ca, dKH, Mg, and trace) to that salt and just try to keep of that stable - the corals will acclimate to the rest.

I love Gonis and Euphyllia. Maybe too much

Daily Question from 7/21: Stability, keep things as stable as possible. Don't overreact and further stress a coral that has already bleached out.

OFFICIAL ENTRY: Honestly the best thing I've done for coral growth. Is to have patience and slow down. I know that should sound like an obvious statement, but some times it so hard to have just a little patience. We've all seen others photos of their amazing corals and want that to be our photos. But we also forget how long it took to get those pieces to that amazing points.

Daily Question for 7/22: I run a small refugium in hopes to try manage excess nutrients to keep corals from having excess zooxanthellae give them a brown appearance.
