I have it fully automated with an integrated optical sensor. When I walk by the tank If I see it needs attention I think about it for awhile and eventually get around to it. Seems to be working ok for now.

With a Neptune Apex, DOS, and a programmed virtual outlet named maintenance that turns off/on all appropriate equipment so that I can complete whatever task I need to with the toggle of only one switch.
