Haha, 5hrs is a full night for me too!
Not enough time in the day!

No kidding.. There's nights I'd kill for 5 hours. I stopped taking sleeping meds a couple years ago because I got sick of my tolerance increasing to the point of being a zombie while awake... 8 hours of "sleep" for 16 hours of lethargy? Nope. I'm good

I talked to my contact at Hanna hydro. He’s at Reef a palooza this weekend but will get the low down on back order wait times Monday. If anyone has any questions or concerns you can hit him up @wes.at.hanna on IG. The hydro guys pretty much work 24/7 and will answer dms at all hours of the night.
He was aware of the sudden interest of these meters and assured me that they are ramping up production on them. So hopefully in the near future anyone can get the meters or reagents without the back order.
@HotRocks and @4FordFamily thanks for all your work. I’m currently working on stocking a 65 gallon now and this discovery will make my life so much easier. I had held off on the meter at first because I had already just purchased the Seachem test kit. But after my first round of fish through copper I see this tester is worth its weight in gold.

The power of the digital world we live in. Glad to hear they are aware, and ramping up. Thanks for looking into that. Also glad you found the thread. It's a game changer. For me, the tester and all the extras are well worth the +/- 100 bucks, if it saves a single fish for me. It's proving very valuable with my current QT being able to ride just above therapeutic level, and have leopards, regal angel, idol, all seemingly unaffected!

It was all @HotRocks but I’m glad you like it, it’s definitely a game changer! :)

ok so i use chemets to read and test for copper.. i use copper safe. i try and shot for 2.0
i spent the 50 to test with Triton to compare the Chemets that i was reading..

I am thinking this is pretty close... here is the findings from Triton on the copper level maintained in my 55 gallon QT.. some other metals high.. and that might be a discussion for another thread.. as they must be the by products perhaps from prazi or coppersafe. or other chemicals i used in the QT.

I can't remember, and you may have posted it prior, but how many ml did you dose to get to the 2.0ppm?

so here is the thing... my dosage and the dosage from the bottle as recommended by any company I do not go with specifically.. Yes i use it as a guide line.. but we have to remember.. that any type or rock, gravel, marine pure will absorb some of the copper... My QT is not 100 percent sterlie .. I have a tuppreware try of gravel for my wrasses i QT and i have a block of the Marine Pure for bacteria..
I went back to old school from 30 years ago with Chelated Copper.. Copper Safe.. i used the seachem.. Cuprime but had to hard of a time reading the test kit, and it did not work as well as old school copper..

I can say the copper safe with the chemets test kit worked well for me.

Yes I understand all that for sure, so you just dosed and tested until you reached the level of 2.0ppm that you were trying to achieve?

by the way.. there i did speak to hana and they said NOT to use the checker for copper testing in saltwater.. but now we have anther thread talking about using it and HANA might be agreeing.. Too bad they stopped my order as we could have checked that with CopperSafe against the TRITON to confirm accuracy..

Getting back to the question.. i intially followed the instructions from CopperSafe.. then added more to get the level to around 2.o My wrasses and angels... regal angel and bluestar, Labouti all did fine .. as is my potters in the copper safe..

Yeah I will have to look into triton. I could pull a sample, from my current QT, test three times with Hanna checker, send to them and see what the result is. It sure seems to work just fine. Not to mention the results don't vary at all, between salt/fresh.

I think Hanna will validate this soon, as everyone who has ordered one and posted results, Everything seems to be consistent.

So the issue here is the concentration of coppersafe not the tests right? Can I still use an api test kit as long as I test while ramping? I've never just followed the directions because they are wrong to begin with, in many ways.

Yes.. in my opinion.. Coppersafe "Mardel" is fine and works well for me. i believe "humble" has a sticky on here with test kits that work with copper safe and others.. i recall API is one that works with coppersafe.. i went ahead and spent the extra to get the Chemets kit as it was easier to read..

Yes it's still fine to use, just monitor it closely and test frequently. It seems the concentration is all over the board depending on when your bottle was purchased.

I personally have switched to copper power just because it seems to be more consistent as far as the concentration. Measuring dosings with syringes and yeilding results exactly as expected using multiple testing methods.

I would agree... remember to test and test.. i tested daily.. if you have anything else in the tank.. it will most likely absorb the copper a bit..

I began treatment with Seachem Cupramine last night, drop by drop, hour by hour, as recommended by @Big G and @dwwataz. Everything seems to be fine this morning.

Out of curiosity, I matched QT temp and SG to that of the DT prior to transferring fish. Is there a recommended temp and SG for the QT during treatment over the next 30 days?

I personally would keep it all stable. Some increase the temp a bit if treating for ICK to speed up the life cycle..
