Side note: I used BioMax media in my HOB. Never noticed any copper absorption throughout the 30 days. Now that I have the Hanna, will use it in my next batch and will post a thread using the new tool. And also zero ammonia using the BioMax. Similar to what Humblefish has found with the Seachem Matrix media. More good news.
Is there some talk about Matrix use here that I've overlooked? I used it with my leopard QT since ammonia was a concern (and they were loaded initially with pods), seemed to do fine but again, that API kit and my eyes are not a good match.

Is it the brand name sponge or an alt source sponge?

Don't know the brand name. @4FordFamily has used it forever. Just a piece we robbed from one of his 55 QTs when I set mine up. It's very minimal absorption, and absorption didn't start until I reached the higher end of the range.

@HotRocks Just wanted to say thanks again for all of your work and inquiry. This checker is amazing.
Sadly, my melanurus just died on day 23 of therapeutic Coppersafe :(. I should have probably lowered it from 2.3 to around 1.75 as you suggest, but I was stubborn and he was doing so well...until he wasn't. It's sad but it does not deter me, and I know how to go about it next time. This is how we learn :)

No problem! Thanks for jumping in with me, buying one and contributing! We all work together here!
Sorry for your loss, and the damage may have already been done before you lowered it. Even though I had figured out my coppersafe fiasco with my API kit before I had the hanna tester and confirmed it, I experienced the same thing just due to the length of time they were exposed to such a high level. Like you said, from here on out, not so difficult!

Didn't see a powerhead in the QT. Strangely enough, a powerhead imparts a far higher rate of O2 exchange than airstones. Who knew?

Ahh, but you need to point it at the surface where it creates ripples and thus the O2 exchange that is awesome.

~ Gary
I have a power head look on the bottom

+1. If you flip that powerhead upward, and move it up a bit, it will really help with your oxygen exchange. You want to see the water from the powerhead "break the surface"

I understand there’s a wait as they did not expect the sudden demand for the meters. But man the customer support on the marine side sucks! I’ve worked with the hydro side for a few years now and they’re awesome. Offering discounts, fast to help with any problems and a strong social media presence that answers questions pretty much 24/7.
This Mae Lortie I’ve been dealing with is terrible. She says she will find dates but after 2 weeks still has not given me any kinda info. I had ordered other reagents with the meter especially for my alkalinity meter. I will be out soon and would have ordered elsewhere if I knew they would delay my entire shipment for a month.

This is the first I have ever dealt with them as a company. They have been very responsive when I communicate with them, I don't remember the name, it is not the one you mention. I always just reply to my confirmation/backorder email. For instance on Monday this week, I emailed asking when my backorder for reagents would be fulfilled. I got a response with in 24hours, that my order was expected to ship by the end of next week. No date, but at least a rough idea. I know depending on where you live they have a couple locations that shipments come from.

They were not prepared for this, but really they didn't have a reason to be.

They also do offer breaking up shipments if you need your other reagents sooner.

I have not gotten a offer to have my order split. Either way great find and I don’t mean to bring any kinda negativity to this. Was just kinda surprised from my previous dealings with them.

It can be moved then if you feel that way. My apologies I’m not used to this forums rules. It was not malicious.

No problem, I also think it would be a better use of your time, TOS aside. You might call and ask about an order split.

Have you added more copper and/or tested again?

I added 2ml of copper power and it should of bumped the coop per a bit instead it's .70 still.
I'm going to put in another 2ml
So total 23.6ml
I should be closer to 1.0ppm
