What is the difference between C. viridis(blue - green chromis) and C. lineata(lined chromis)? My lfs got a big swarm of baby lineata in, which I didn't realize is even in the trade, and I want to pick like 5 of them up to make a good school.

I've kept a few viridis before, which slowly died off over the years, but never cared much about them as they are rather boring fish. These guys and indigo chromises are quite interesting looking.

i cant think

Honestly, it’s mainly the colour that is different as I believe most Chromis do badly in groups unless given reasons to shoal (e.g. other Damsels constantly going at them)

If they do shoal in response to aggression, how do I get my damselfish to be aggressive to them and them only? He’s a complete pacifist that won’t bother anyone unless they approached its sleeping spot, but non - schooling chromises are a dealbreaker.

Honestly, you can’t really get a Damsel to only go for one fish and not the others, it’s either they go for them all or none.

Another thing you can do is add another species of Chromis such as a Bicolour Chromis pair.

I’ve heard that pairs will often beat each other up until they’re down to one, and a minimum school number is 5 individuals. I can’t get other chromises other than these two species though, lfs doesn’t get them in often.

What would be the kind fish that would be considered a predator but not actually act aggressively towards the chromises? Indigo hamlets are chromis specialists in the wild(and I have been eyeing the one at the lfs for a while) or maybe a triggerfish will keep them in line?
