So variable speed and energy saving are the two biggest sales pitches of DC?
I use to run mag pumps, DC are a lot quieter (majority of them), my SW tank was running warm in the summer, swapped to a DC pump and it helped drop the temperature.

Dialing in the exact gph you need is really nice.

Head pressure is about the only downfall I can think of.

One thing that I found interesting is that plumbing is changing in response to DC pumps. Gregg (coral websites) recently paid a company in town to come in redo his tank and make it fancy. I built him the new stand and cabinet and they did the rest. What I noticed is that they have no gate valves in the downpipes. They dialed in the overflow box and downpipes with the pump itself. It was very interesting.

Night light meaning moon lights for your tank? And for monitoring you mean like an Apex?
LOL, new light, not night light. Currently, running an Ocean Revive T247 and getting ready to swap to a 55G tank so not sure if it will still be a good light?

Yes, like an Apex :)

Actually scratch the Apex. I really need an ATO first.
