For me an ATO was one of the best investments. My house can be very dry and I have a sump with an internal skimmer. It keeps it operating at the same optimum water level and I don't have to worry about it or salinity swings and daily top offs.

But yeah I just use a bucket as a reservoir.

If I could ask it would probably be a doser and a BIG bottle of magnesium. My tank eats that stuff for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacksies, second lunch, other breakfast....

I live in AZ... Desert? Wanna talk about dry! I have a sump with an internal skimmer and a TON of surface agitation so I understand evaporation. My 5 gallon bucket lasts me 2 days in the summer & 3 this time of year.

I just got one as Im adding a sump and will be bad at checking the level. If I can't hear the return, I will never remember to fill teh tank.

I need to upgrade mine to a 30 gallon. I'm thinking about taking a 30 (or even a 20) and dividing it out to make an ATO section of 10-20 gallons and then dividing the remainder for a couple of dosing chambers. I haven't decided yet. I may just take a 30, do 20 gallon ATO and 10 gallon fuge also... Or do a 20 gallon ATO and use the 30 as a split fuge and frag tank.

I believe Dinkins has haulted all shipments till after the first of the year. The Berghia's were on their black friday/cyber Monday sale they had.

Whatever I do, probably a bucket, needs to go in place before I get the tank wet. after it's running the stand is too small and cramped to be added to. I'm not to the point of auto dosing so that will wait till it's a problem.

I've thought about getting a larger reservoir too. My fear is a flood, as long as the power doesn't go out my sump can hold it all and salinity swing would be minimal.
