And that's OK to dose the entire QT with while the copper is going?
Yes, it is ok to do, just monitor the ammonia level. You should use Maracyn 1 (erythromycin) rather than Maracyn 2 (minocycline).

No fish lost today, but I think we lost an eye. Poor guy. He does seem less miserable though. Any idea what is going on in my bucket? Its just Rodi and reef crystals like usual. I've been mixing it daily for my QT changes, but I've never had water in a bucket this long so not sure what is happening. My clean water bucket is doing just fine. Don't want to use this in my QT unless you guys say it's ok. It's just water, I can make more.

It does look like the cardinal lost/damaged its eye due to infection. Fish can survive that as long as any secondary infection is controlled.

He's going to be my one-eyed special guy! What do you think of the water in my bucket. Very weird brown clumps i've never seen before.

The brown stuff isn't algae? Some saltwater brands (Instant Ocean) mixes up with a brown residue. Filters usually take that out, but in a container like this, it can stick to the sides.

It could just be the residue I guess. I usually mix my water the day before WC and let it mix and change in the am. The is maybe the first time I've left the same water in a bucket for almost a week just doing small changes daily. Also I never used this big 30 gal for mixing before, always my 20. Just wanted to be sure it was safe for the QT. Things are looking good today. After WC the Copper is a touch over 2, so now I just need to do my 25% change and put in 1/4 of the recommended dosage and make sure the number stays constant.

I mix my water in a 32 gallon brute trash can. I always keep some mixed and ready to go. I keep the water constantly circulating in the trash can with a pump. I do get some minor scale build up in the trash can as a result, but I've never to my knowledge experienced any problems using the water.

edit: The white can may allow enough light penetration to support algae buildup. The brown algae should wipe off fairly easily, scale does not.

Also, I would try to prevent the copper level from dropping below 2.25 to be safe. My goal has been to try to keep it between 2.25 and 2.50.

The cardinal should be fine given no way for infection to occur and not too much aggression.
The eye won’t grow back, but it should heal over and the fish will do fine.

Also. I did a thing. Meet my AquaVim 150 gallon corner tank.

My elite 8 are still alive and kicking. Just finished their first dose of paracleanse which ended with a 25% water change on Friday night. How long should I wait to administer the 2nd and 3rd doses?

#fishmedic
Paracleanse contains metronidazole and praziquantel. The mfg instructions indicate a different protocol than what we normally recommend, so I'm not entirely sure how to correctly blend to two.

The current protocol only uses praziquantel. Doses on day 1 achieve a concentration of 2.5mg/l. 25% water change on day 8, and a second dose of praziquantel again at 2.5mg/l. Some will follow up with a third dose 8 days later.

Paracleanse dosage results in a 2 mg/l concentration repeated on day 3 and a water change on 5. Then repeat if symptoms persist.

So, the frequency timing is different, the concentation is a little lower than the protocol for prazi, but similar if the Fritz product is used again at 5 days after the second dose.

The second dose in 3 days may be due to the use of metronidazole.
