Just like the title says? I would like to find a way to get the stuff that builds up in the sump out. I did a shopvac once but that was a tad extreme, I have generally used a turkey baster and sucked up what I can when I do a water change but that is tedious so I am looking for an alternative in case anyone here has a creative solution. Thanks

There is a suction sand cleaner that hooks to a faucet that creates a vacuum. This would be a milder version of a shop vac. A shop vac sounds like a good idea if you attach an air bleed valve on the hose to reduce the vacuum.

I use a small powerhead like a maxijet or sicce syncra nano and some tubing going to a bucket. Just gotta keep unplugging any large debris. A foot switch on an extention cord helps with that.
I tried the vacuum attachments and they didn’t work well for me. So I use just the pump itself.
