Wonderful work being done on that stand! There are so many crappy pine stands out there -- this stand will certainly be as impressive as what's in the tank! Are you counting a 50G sump in the 500G title? It looks like you might be able to get something even larger in that stand, or an infinite amount of extra water volume in the basement.

Thanks! I'm with you on the wood! The tank model gallons is 513, actual volume including the sump will be around 505 gallons total.

I’m so confused! You said black walnut but this finished product almost looks like African Padauk or a dark redwood.
I’m assuming it was stained?
Regardless... it’s stunning.

The walnut we found was actually very purple in color. We actually dyed with a rich brown and then lacquered it. This gives it an almost see through look or translucent look. Much of the color you are seeing is only because of the light making it's way into the wood, which wouldn't be as predominant if it were just stained. In some lights, it looks very brown and other lights, depending on the angle you get the kick of color.

Great job on the finish, Walnut is probably my favorite wood in how it responds to finish. Really like the simple straight line styling of the cabinetry too. I'm not big on frills.
