I just got my 80/20 stand from Alufab and all I can say is it was a pleasure working with Alufab to design it went together with no issues. Now to add a floor for the sump to sit on and a top.

Now to figure out the light rack, I’m probably going with 80/20 and it will be adjustable and I want it to be on hinges on the back wall so I can lift it up out of the way to get into the tank. I think the three Atlantic Icons down the middle with OR bars on either side should provide decent spread.

Well BRS just added a wrinkle to my controller plans (in a good way). They put the GHL Profilux 4e set on sale for like 60% off (taking advantage of them dumping the GHL line of products). This means I can now compare all three of the main players when it comes to controllers. I have been running an Apex for years and have a ton of accessories so I know it’s pros and cons. I have a Hydros running on the display tank I set up for temporary housing of the fish I have been quarantining so I can play with its features and now I will have a GHL Profilix to try out. I’m excited to try them all side by side to see which one I finally go with.

Well thanks to BRS cutting ties with some of the brands they use to carry it looks like I will have a bit of a German theme to my tank. I got a GHL Profilux and I splurged on a Royal Exclusive Bubble King double cone 250 skimmer. At full price I would have never spent that much on a skimmer but when they are dumping them for less than cost I just had to pull the trigger.

Check out this beast of a skimmer, my plan is heavy in and heavy out from a food standpoint and this will ensure that happens (I still have the Aquamaxx Cone-5 I got if this isn’t enough lol). It even came in a nice and fancy cloth bag. I feel like I’m in some club now lol.

I spent yesterday removing tile with a demo hammer. The floor is now ready for our new vinyl flooring so one major hurdle done.

I dry walled where I removed the wall and primed the whole wall so it’s white. I think we are going to paint the wall behind the tank a light blue like the cabinets in the picture above.
IMG_2740.jpeg

I need to put a plate over the top outlet and I’m adding a AFCI/GFCI outlet and a outdoor cover to the lower outlet since it will be behind the sump

Now to design the 80/20 light rack. I’m going to mount it to the wall and have it hinged so I can lift it up to get into the tank.

Can’t wait to see this tank come together, I’m sure it will be awesome.

I want to know more about your 4000g vivarium though, I just picked up a used paludarium, and I want to be growing more plants in my house, alongside my aquariums, but I’m having trouble finding good resources. Your picture is what I imagined eventually getting to, it looks like being in a jungle.

New Afci/Gfci outlets installed. I don’t like how low the outlet is so I’m going to move it up the wall higher so it isn’t below the level of the sump (I need to be able to reset the AFCI/GFCI outlet if needed).

I’m now going to add an outlet to the ceiling for the lights since they will be over 1000 watts of lighting and will be the single largest draw of power. I have a breaker feed going I to the livingroom that only runs a single outlet that doesn’t get much use so it will basically be dedicated for the lights. This will give me 3 total breakers supporting the build. The other project will be to install an AC infinity through wall exhaust system. This will monitor temperature and humidity in the canopy and ensure the canopy and sump area are properly ventilated.

After a lot of different idea this is my design for my light rack. I’m still try to decide if 2 hinges is enough (it seems to be on first test but I will have a better feeling once all the lights are added). I will be adding chains to the ceiling so the weight will not all be on the hinges. I will be using 1”x1/2” extrusions for the light bars but they haven’t arrived yet. Still waiting for the lag screws so I can screw it into the wall for now I just clamped it to the stand lol

You have a nice build. I love all the details. I like your Alufab stands; I'm halfway tempted to order one. I can't stand the thought of moving the tank again.
Thank you, it’s so close to being wet I can’t stand it lol. Alufab was great to work with and the stand is super solid

I got the second L2, I’m hoping 2 L2 powered closed loops and 2 Maxspect cloud 350 gyres will be enough flow for this tank.

My 80/20 light rack is temporarily mounted to the wall and ceiling (I accidentally ordered the wrong size lag bolts so it’s just held up with screws) even with deck screws it is still super solid. I also added an outlet to the ceiling that will be a dedicated 20 amp breaker just for the lights.

And the real test, the Orphek Atlantiks fit right onto the 80/20. There will be four 28” cross beams for the OR bars to be mounted on.
