So I posted asking for tank recommendations a few days back, thank you for all of your responses!

I decided to order the IM external overflow Peninsula 200 gallon complete reef system.
  • Dimensions: 30" x 70.9" x 21.7"

I was going to go with a 100-125 originally but decided I might as well go big now since I can (and I want a tang or two). 74 gallon sump, tunze master DOC 9410 protein skimmer, tunze 3155 ato, 2 Radion XR30 G6, LPS dominant.

stocking list:
Transferring From 40G
1 midas blenny
1 tailspot blenny
shrimp/goby pair
pinstripe wrasse
1 peppermint shrimp
bunch of snails

New Livestock
1 yellow tang
1 hybrid yellow scopas tang
1 scopas tang
1 gem tang
1 kole tang
1 tomini tang
1 foxface
1 copperband butterfly

2 long fin mocha storm clowns
4 female ventralis anthias
1 biota potters angel

1 johnson’s fairy wrasse
1 linear us fairy wrasse
1 melanarus wrasse
1 hawaiian cleaner wrasse

I’m not too educated on stocking a large tank as this is my first one so if this is too much or if some fish would go better with others please let me know. I am also open to other suggestions.

I am flexible, however, I DEFINITELY want a yellow tang, a yellow scopas tang, gem tang, potters angel, and long fin clowns, I’m hoping that can work at least.

Thanks in advance,

-Elias

It's definitely not too much, I have the same tank. You will have to watch the aggression as you stock, especially tangs. In general add the larger or more aggressive tangs last, or add them at the same time. Once they establish territory it a pain to get them to accept new tang arrivals. You'll need an acclamation box and a mirror and it still might not work when added separately.

thank you! I was thinking I’d add all the tangs last with the yellow going in at the very end.

so scopas/yellow and gem all at the same time?

I would. I tried adding a yellow after having a purple in there for months. It failed. I tried again weeks later and finally got it to work. I have a full-time running qt tank so I'm able to swap the fish as needed. The yellow tang had to stay in an acclimation box for a week in the display. The tangs get real viscous when they don't accept a new arrival. These fish aren't cheap as you know.

Okay the only issues I see are the gem, yellow, hybrid, and scopas. All zebrasomas. If you do this combo which it sounds like these are your have to have fish add all those together at the same time and probably aim for smaller sizes in all of them to minimize aggression since zebrasomas tend to get aggressive with other zebrasomas. :) might also need a blackout period for them to calm down and find territories. Doable but needs to be very methodical!

Also if I were you I would swap one of the bristletooths out for a different tang or other fish. My experience those fish dont like each other!! I tried adding a yellow eye with Blue my blue lip bristletooth and he flipped. Had to take the other back!

sounds good, if it doesn’t work it doesn’t work, just a gem would make me really happy, that was always the fish I wanted when I first started in the hobby.

Hum blue hippo, lavender, lieutenant, powder brown (NOT POWDER BLUE, devil fish!!) chocolate tang theres a lot!
blue hippo! loved that fish when I first started and was unaware of the correct tank size, got rid of her once I found out but she was the star of the tank for sure. I’ll have to get another one of those, don’t know how I forgot. do you think adding a convict tang to the list would screw with any of the other tangs?

Yeah! They are beautiful! And Ive always heard convict tangs are shy for a tang and should go in before any other tangs to establish territory. Ive never had one for that reason! I tend to like the more aggressive tangs lol @vetteguy53081 has like 26 tangs he could chime in on that!

Convicts are hit and miss and many will simply starve and perish due to suspected method capture especially those from Sri Lanka.
Consider 4-5 tangs max as the tank once filled with rock, etc- your water volume will be maybe 90-95 gallons
