Why is it essential to have a light that mimics natural sunlight and moonlight cycles? That's what coral wants, it's evolved of thousands of years to use the sun

What tips do you have for new aquarists about choosing the right reef lighting? You don't have to take out a second mortgage to light your reef tank and get good growth

How do you manage light schedules to prevent algae growth while supporting coral health? I don't really, more herbivores, and more scrubbing

DAILY QUESTION: What advantages do you see in the Natura iCon’s wide blue spectrum for coral fluorescence?
Well this gives a better mimic of the spectrums produced under water. So in theory this might excite the corals and hopefully with some corals that might of been missing those wider spectrums might produce more colouration. Or at least more vibrancy from the wider spectrums. Doesn't have to be just new colouration but just overall more vibrant

DAILY QUESTION: How do you balance aesthetics and functionality when it comes to aquarium lighting?
Gotta agree with what @Mschmidt said. I have a kessil currently and it’s pretty easy to just put the color how I like it.

With the other fixtures I had I was having great difficulty getting it balanced with what I liked and what the corals did ok under. None are “great.” I’d love to see how Orphek does in this department

DAILY QUESTION: How do you balance aesthetics and functionality when it comes to aquarium lighting?
My lights are pretty heavy blue for growth but then i adjust the whites for visual appeal.

When i ran a kessil before l, i loved the ease of use and set it and forget it approach as others have stated. Looking forward to trying out an Orphek

DAILY QUESTION: How do you balance aesthetics and functionality when it comes to aquarium lighting?
Well my mind goes into 2 places here...

1 is aesthetics and functionality of mounting the lights. I think the look of how they are mounted is important when building out a sleek looking tank. I personally like the hanging style of lights. As for functionality, for me that's mounting height! The higher I can mount them without impacting intensity the easier it is for me to get over and into the tank for maintenance and servicing.

2. The aesthetics and functionality of the spectrum the lights produce. I'm that person who like white in the morning/ early arvo and washed out blue in the late arvo/night. Functionality is making sure the corals and fish get the correct spectrums whilst achieving the aesthetics I'm after.

Care a lot more about functionality. Aesthetics is beyond my lizard brain

DAILY QUESTION: How do you balance aesthetics and functionality when it comes to aquarium lighting?
Well... I use a lot of blue to make the coral colors "pop" and the blend in white until it looks natural but still has plenty of glow.

DAILY QUESTION: How do you balance aesthetics and functionality when it comes to aquarium lighting?
Functionality is the primary concern and aesthetics are a bonus. It doesn't matter how good a light looks if it's not functioning. If the aesthetics aren't great, things can be done to hide them. Fortunately orphek makes a great looking light that doesn't need to be hidden and the functionality is great!

DAILY QUESTION: How do you balance aesthetics and functionality when it comes to aquarium lighting?
Light will be set to a decent spectrum color to my liking. If PAR levels are low, increase the output and keep the same spectrum settings
