Its no secret that coral grow fast under blue. I believe a wide spectrum will only boost growth and production of zooanth to really give them the fluorescence pop.

I would think it is important for cholorophylls and zooxanthellae photosynthesis.
I love a touch of blue from my Orphek bars with my T5 lights. It gives a pop on the corals.

I saw the Orphek lighting at reefapalooza and on a youtube video from World Wide Corals showcasing a customers tank. Anyways, the reason i want these lights are simple. Natural sunlight on a reef cannot be replicated by most lights. As an diving and reef keeping enthusiast the Orphek lights are by far the closest i have ever seen to natural reef lighting. The lights spectrum brings out the best colors in corals. The whites are cool and the blues are like the ocean. From what I read the fixtures run very cool and do not get too hot. The real question is who doesnt want these lights.
The closer to nature the better. I feel like everything has adapted to nature, so its best to replicate it.
You want to do each of those activities as a separate post as a random number generator is used to pick the winners.
