I like it! In the next couple of weeks I'm going to upgrade my 20 long into a 30g so I can keep macros too. Right now my Janss pipes and pinkie are in the 20 long with some assorted gorgs but the gorgs are getting too tall for a 12" high tank so I figure why not add some macros when I do the upgrade. Are you going to order your macros?
Cool! That’s going to look awesome!

My LFS has dragons breath so I’m going to start with that and hopefully they will get some more in. The online stores are just so expensive for tiny bits so I’d rather get through my LFS.

Is there a local forum you could check out? Macros come cheap from locals. I give away Botrycladia, Codium, Caulerpa, etc. for free when I have to trim.

I wish. Theres no R2R club and the other forums seem very dead. BUt my LFS usually sells at a very low price and I could probably trade for cheato.

I got bored. So here’s the first draft of my soon to be macroalgae nano. I’m thinking just some cool macros and no stock (of course this is me). This should be very low budget too.
Final aquascape will be way better don’t worry:

You definitely need a small wrasse or goby in there, nothing big but just maybe 1-2 fish dotted around ;)

I went to a rather good conservation heavy ‘sea life centre’ yesterday and they had huge tanks but in the cold water tanks with sea grass they had 3-4 fish in a 5-6’ long tank and they were tiny species!

The main display wasn’t too interesting (Well, Atleast for me it wasn’t as I prefer seeing all the smaller species dwelling through the rocks). Here’s just a few of the better photos from a ~20’ diameter tank, nowhere near enough wrasse but for the ones they did have they were gorgeous and a good weight.

You’d never believe some of these fish were the maximum size they’re said to reach in the wild but in captivity! The Stars and Stripes puffer has to have been 2 foot at a minimum.

Too many tangs for my liking but the natural looking reef is very cool!

I got bacto balance and some manganese today. The bacto because as of last testing the Nitrate and phophate were actually at 100:1 for once and the manganese in the hope my last goniopora will perk up.

On to mini tank and I added some black vinyl and the permanent rocks are in!
Now sand, The smaller rocks, and water. Hopefully these lights will do though I already am unhappy with that shadow on the right rock. Plan is to use waste water from water changes so I don't have to dose nutrients.

Currently the bill is up to about $140.
  • Aquarium with heater, lid, lights, and filter - 50
  • Sand (carib sea arag alive) - 40
  • Dragon stone - 40
  • Silicone - 10 (though I'm only using a tiny amount of what I bought)

Green base with purple polyps. Obviously recently fragged but I've been wanting to try one again for a while.

My friends FTS with better camera phone. Google something or other I believe. The towel is to silence the overflow. Do you have a better solution @tbrown ?

IMG_7444.jpeg
I use a piece of airline tubing in the drain tube. It restricts an 1/8" but part of the issue is the tube isn't completely full. It's not perfect but it does help. My current overflow has a lid with two air holes that does basically the same as the towel. Just make sure the towel doesn't fall in and get wet and make sure it allows enough airflow it doesn't cause a suction issue.

I hadn’t thought of that thanks. Id feel quite dumb though if that’s why my overflow has failed….

The toadstool(s) have finally attached to the plugs so I could remove the rubber band. I kept the better frag in this tank and moved the other to the eel.
I am very happy with the parameters for the first time in a while. I've kept nitrate at 15-20 and phosphate .15-.2 for a couple weeks now with Alk 10-11.
