Cirrhilabrus species are notorious for going into that phase of ‘New tank who this?’ and looking like they’re almost dead to all of a sudden ‘Pick me! Pick me! I’m the favourite!’

Owning and Caring for many Cirrhilabrus species makes you notice patterns haha, definitely the best description of it I can think of!

When I first started this hobby knowing only freshwater before I had "fairy" wrasse on my list early on. (Mostly because Reef Dork was my starting YouTuber thus a naoko.) But every one at the store I thought was sick as their fins were retracted and their spines bent. Took me a while to realize they're just drama queens and kings.

Definitely!
Some of the ones I’ve seen people avoiding are actually some of the healthiest, they just seem to find joy out of playing dead. I know my Melanomarginalis was a drama king and every so often laid on the sandbed for no reason in stress colours and then 3 minutes later was the centre of attention.

My Naoko I currently have was a proper panic but it just shows how hardy these guys truly are!

This was august 2022, this guy swam weakly to the point he looked like he was on deaths door.
Now, he’s everyone’s favourite! He’s the first one to say it’s dinner time and he adores people ‘playing’ with him during a water change.

It feels weird writing positives today as two "friends" on this forum have had major losses recently and all this while I'm having what seems to be a big peak in my tanks.

I am still having issues of course. I have noticed small patches of cyano and a lot of them are on SPS corals unfortunately. I'm guessing my tiny montipora frag won't survive but tbh I think getting tiny SPS frags wasn't smart anyway. On top of that I think something is nibbling at my freak hair pavona. It is still growing well and looks happy but they're a couple chunks missing. I suspect the foxface.

However overall things are great! My corals are showing obvious growth and I saw my most reclusive inhabitant out today:

On top of that the new wrasse is not only doing well but is both not being bullied and not bullying which has almost seemed like a custom within the first few days. Having fairy wrasse again has really cheered me up. They are such fun fish with great energy!

Don’t feel bad to post the good that’s happening for you. I do appreciate you thinking that way. In all honesty, I’m sure your “good” helps keep away the “bad”. Post away lol. More pictures of the wrasse? Pls :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Don't feel bad for having a good day because others are having a bad one.

Thanks both
There was a saying from my parents back when I lived in Uganda as a child. "A good day in Africa is one of the best days of your life and a bad day is one of worst." Though I was too young to remember Uganda I definitely felt it when I moved to Namibia as an adult. This hobby is just as roller-coastery.

What are all the spots on the wrasse dust bubbles?
See this is why you never start celebrating....

I'm inquiring with the experts. It is acting super healthy but now that I've seen it I'm quite worried.

Apparently I have ich.

So I'm going to ask this here where people won't yell at me as much. Can I run a tank with ich? I just see no way I can successfully treat all my fish. At least 4 are dependent on copepods. Some are avid jumpers. Then there is aggression issues not to mention potential ammonia problems and stress. Is it not safer to get a UV and contain it?

I'm very jealous. I tried 3 naoko And all three of them had neurology issues and quickly expired.

It totally depends.. ick management can be done successfully, sometimes.

Sometimes no matter what you do, it's going to be an issue. I lived happily with ick in a tang dominated tank. A lot of tanks I know and love have ick..

After the new tank went up, ick tried to wipe it out.

If things start dying, you may not have a choice.

I have mostly thickly mucous fish but I hear you. Is there a solution for copepod eaters?
