Last time I had wrasses, long time ago, six line, melanarus, and yellow coris

I had sand in the tank

I want to get a six line and five line for pest control only. Can they exist in a bare bottom tank, for an extended period of time?

(I think it was melanarus, the paisley blue and green one)

TIA

Yellow wrasse, coris is a very different type of wrasse

Six lines are notoriously aggressive but they don’t need sand. Halichoeres wrasse like the melanurus, and yellow need sand.

The wrasse that don’t need sand are Pseudocheilinus, Pseudocheilinops, Cirrhilabrus, and Paracheilinus. Aka, the lined wrasse, the pink streak wrasse, fairy wrasse, and flasher wrasse. You can mix the last 3 but not lined wrasse. Look them up in liveaquaria if you want to see what genera they are.

Pretty sure it was this yellow kinda guy

Liveaquaria.com calls him yellow wrasse and a yellow coris wrasse

He slept in the sand at night. More than likely that's where I got him from. It was 10 years ago, I don't remember

What I’m saying is it isn’t a coris wrasse. The name is wrong.

What is a five line??
By the sounds of it, a 5 line is what we know as a Mystery - Pseudocheilinus occelatus.

From my understanding, Mystery wrasses are a much better option than a Six Line and are more mixable with fish so are a much better option,
