So, I have had a 6 line in my 125 tank years ago, and that guy was great but an ******. I have a 6 line and a melanarus in my QT now for another 3 weeks. I was thinking put the 6 line in my 150 gallon sump and he could eat anything in there, and the sides are high enough not to hop out. But I do like the look of the fish, do you think it would be ok if I introduce the 6 line and melanarus in the DT at the same time? It's 8x3x2, so plenty of space. Assuming if it's ok, that limits any other wrasse additions going forward. I do want a yellow coris wrasse to eat any pests that the melanarus doesn't.

Thanks in advance.

If you have a 6 line and melanarus together in QT together and are not having any issues, I'm fairly confident they will do fine together in your larger DT. Yellow coris wrasse should be fine too in a tank that big.

I would put the 6-line in the sump or frag tank. They are great for that. They have a tendency to get quite mean and 3 weeks is not long enough to tell. I won’t put another in any DT that I plan to add other wrasses or mild mannered fish. You will probably get a few “model citizen “ responses. @i cant think @OrionM @Slocke

I disagree, just because they’re cohabitating now doesn’t mean they always will. Sixlines will turn its just a guessing game of when.

I have watched Sixlines become terrors in tanks as big as 7 foot, it’s not one I would recommend unless it’s going into a tank on its own or with equally as aggressive fish (damsels like the Neogliphydodon species) into a frag tank.

It will limit quite a few new wrasse additions, especially any that sleep in the rockwork. It may risk harming the yellow wrasse (NOT a Coris species) as they are more peaceful and will hunt around the same areas the sixline will go.

Thanks all. Confirms my suspicion, into the 150 gallon sump he goes. So much rock in there, he will be able to feast non-stop.
