I am trying to figure out what UV to buy for my 25gallon cube build. I will be plumbing this off my HoB refugium's little pump (mightyjet mini 266gph) so I want to minimize head pressure.

Aqua Ultraviolet seems to list the width including the union(3.75") and pentair gives the diameter of the tube(2.5").
Can anyone confirm that Aqua Ultraviolet diameter is about 2.5"?

EDIT: nvm the Aqua Ultraviolet units are, in fact, 3.75" in diameter

Well according to this they seem to be

Good question.

One suggestion is to purchase a large DC pump than you need, then control the flow/speed with the pump until you get it dialed in.

I decided to go for pentair because they had the 2.5" diameter and bought a used one on the market here. Turns out the 2.5" is for their new uv's they call smart and I bought the old one which is probably thicker than aqua ultraviolet..
My system is only 25 gallons so I really didn't need 10% of my water in the UV lol!

Also I was trying to set this up running on a pump in my skimmer chamber so it had to be slower than my main return which limited pump options severely.
I really don't know what I am doing but I am having fun crafting it. UV will be run off the same pump as the HOB refugium. I will have a ball valve to manipulate flow from going straight to the refugium or diverted into the UV.
