Wish you were the project foreman when they dredged out Miami's port carelessly and killed the reef for bigger cruise ships to fit in there.

Thanks, unfortunately what you just described is one of the reasons (among others) I got out of the industry. I won't go too much into it here but science is ignored on most federally funded construction projects in the name of "progress". I was horrified about what happened in Miami.

Project Manager for a Mechanical Contractor, 40 years now.

For those that might not know what that means; we install plumbing, hvac, and mechanical systems, chillers, boilers, etc. in buildings being constructed like schools, hospitals, prisons , state and fed gov't buildings, etc.

Master Commercial Plumber for many years early on.

Can't say I love it anymore really, but don't hate it.

Worked in the field as a plumber/pipe fitter (plumber with his brains knocked out) for many years. Had my plumbing contractors license for 20 years, certified medical gas installer. (Plumbers make good reefers;).) Now I'm a one man LLC in NC, lead estimator for an out of state mechanical/plumbing contractor. Spend most of my time behind a computer or elbow deep in saltwater. Thank goodness for the internet!!

What a diverse group, that would generally not have anything in common. But reefing and foruming (that a word? Forum ing?) got us alll together.

I’m fairly new, but what a great bunch of people I have met

Dental Laboratory Technician (10 Years plus) / Founded Inland Sea to distribute Reef Aquarium systems in the early 1980's / Founded Tricon Technology Inc. in 1988 to fabricate and distribute our own line of aquariums, filters, light systems, and design, build, and install retail aquarium store systems through the early 2000's. Tricon Technology Inc continued to into the residential and commercial solid surface industry (DuPont Corian products) in about 1996 until today. We currently run fabrication systems to make counters, shower enclosures, window sills, and related with two CNC router systems using Laser survey equipment and software for the CAD and Mach3 for the CAM. One CNC system is wet for Quartz and Granite fabrication and one is dry for solid surface fabrication.
I have also worked as a grunt in forestry companies to plant trees, hand built fire line, thinning, controlled burns, and related. The wildest job was as a Surveyor for the international boundary commission that is managed by the U.S. and Canada. I surveyed 53 miles of the border just north of Beavercreek, Yukon using a Trimble GRS/GPS system and cut landing zones for the helicopter to retrieve us each day after work when needed. That was the hardest physical job I have ever done at over 50 years old LOL.
I have two undergraduate degrees with one in Dental Lab Technology and a Business Management Degree in 2012.
