CUC are one of the fundamental creatures we can put in our tanks to keep our tank nice and clean. However, sometimes they don't do the best job cleaning or are not fast enough. I am wondering if the CUC in your tank keeps your tank nice and clean, or are they not doing the best job of getting rid of algae? Photo Credit: @alindell

If you want a starfish to work, get a sand sifting starfish. I have seen that starfish in your picture for sale in my LFS. They say that starfish in your pic is just for show and wont really do anything. My LFS said " nah bro, dont buy those seastars, they're just useless. Your wasting your money.". LOL

Sand sifting starfish have one of the highest mortality rates in home aquaria. They need very large tanks with well established sandbeds or they starve and erode. Very few situations I would recommended them. If you need a sandbed cleaned, get a fighting conch.

That’s how my hermits are! I’ll see them one day and they are gone the next couple

No, I would disagree. I keep sand sifting starfish in a 20 gallon and my LFS keep a giant one in a 5 gallon. Just make sure you feed them. I feed mine fish food.

You do need to feed them. That is a big help. Many get them thinking the sand bed alone is enough food for them. But it’s not

How long have you had it

Lol Nah he's not there to work. I have crabs and snails for that. He's there to make me laugh and look like a drunk frat boy.
