Sometimes, coral gets too big or other livestock get too big for the tank, and you have to do something about it. Maybe you move the fish to a new tank, maybe you sell them or trade it for something else for your tank. I am wondering what do you do with something in your tank once it outgrows your tank.

Propagate. I will have someone frag off for me and I replant it elsewhere in the tank. If a duplicate is not desired, I either offer it for sale or trade with a local member for something desired.

I’m lucky to live somewhere with an active reef club. When fish outgrow my tank, I just sell it to another local reefer. For coral, I keep it fragged and bonsai it as much as I can but if it gets too big, I’ll chop it down and start over with a small frag and sell, trade, or give away the rest.

I used to hv a 75 g tank and then I buy a 375 g tank because I fall in love with tangs. So 1st option is to buy new tank and 2nd is to find it a new good home who would take good care of it :)

I frag and sell cheap or give it away with a disclaimer that if something happens to my original coral I can get a frag back for the same price or if given away for free. Those I can’t find a home for I take to my lfs for store credit.
