So I'm toying with the idea of drilling a few small holes in the bottom of the roller mat enclosure to allow some bypass. This would ensure the AIO chambers stay at a consistent level and should still allow a good amount of filtration.

thoughts?

Thinking of getting a roller mat too, is it still working for you?

No. Unfortunately I cannot recommend it.
It burns through the roller in less than a week. And it takes over a week to order a replacement roll, and and support is completely unresponsive to emails went completely unanswered for over 3 weeks.

The best solution I found at this point was the Red Sea nano mesh socks which are available in 100 micron or 225 micron. They're a little smaller than the waterbox socks, so you'll have to add a small piece of acrylic to the sock holder and cut out the proper size hole. But they're easily rinseable and reusable.
