Done temp acclimating, and straight into his temporary home. Being in the bag for 48 hours, I wasn't even attempting a drip acclimation. The ammonia build up would have been highly toxic once the pH came back up.

I'll try feeding once he settles in a little bit. I still have some squid, krill and I picked up a pack of LRS Chunky to see if he would care for that. If not I'll just mash it up and feed it to the other fish. Once he eats, I'll put a few more pieces of rock in. I just want to be able to get to him to feed easier. That little rock has been cycling for MONTHS... it can handle his little bio load until I start feeding.

Oh, and how does Smiley look for only being in salt water for the last, oh... 8-9 months Whenever it was that I shut down the Deep Blue. No reef lighting... just a cheap LED, mostly dark tho.

I thought about making you sweat a little...

I cut off not one, not two, but SIX outer bags and 2 light blocking black plastic sleeves. Just to give you refrence of how big this bag is... that is a 10g tank it is sitting in. It takes up half of that tank.

I can't credit LADD enough for how well this eel was packaged.

I never had a problem with Maui and my little hi fin goby, or the tail spot blenny. Let's see 2cm, 2.54cm=1in... that's just under an inch! Yea they were only slightly larger than that. Maybe 1 1/4"(3cm) long. Every specimen is it's own creature with it's own habits. I plan on keeping him with nano fish, hopefully he behaves himself.

CUC arrived. Very well packed and all looks healthy.

8 money cowries. Approx 1" each...

One tiger conch... much smaller than my last one. Maybe 2.5" long.

Black rock urchin. Much smaller than I expected. The body is probably 1 1/2" and the spines another inch. Room to grow!

Brief intermission from eels... my red monti cap is about to grow a second tier. Right there on the hump in the middle. You see it?

Ignore the 80s hair band algae... that doesn't exist. It's just a figment of your imagination.

I love when you show this and it's white edge, that is so healthy! :)

I feel wrong for even taking a photo at an angle to the glass... but you can sort of get some perspective of how much its grown. The texture from old growth, to new growth in my system is different. Much rougher new growth. More ridges and bumps. I'm guessing because it's getting blasted by an SW4 on random flow. Second photo is my attempt to trace the line between new and old growth, never claimed to be an artist. Anyway, it's a good inch of growth in most places.

For some reason I was thinking Maui was the skull....

The skull was named Smiley... not sure who came up with that one. Yes, it's the same one, been wet the entire time. Theres some good coraline and biofilm on it.

CUC is in the tank... need a bit more time to get comfortable but a few of the cowries are moving about. I placed the urchin on a rock with a bunch of hair algae. It stayed there long enough to get a picture, then promptly fell off onto the sand.

Golden dwarf moray. Gymnothorax melatremus

Their color varies from a dark orange with black spots, to a pale cream color with little to no spots. I saw the dotted pattern and bright yellow tail and I had to have this one.
Robin, I am so happy your eel is ok!!!
