Well, long time no post... hmmm let's see where shall we start?

How about... here.

20201030_150923.jpg

Yep, that's me and yet another really expensive hobby. I got into horseback riding with my mother in law in the last, oh about 6 months or so. Turns out, I'm a natural. That's my Tennessee Walker mare, Sugar Bear. Well one of them. This is the other one that is mine, her name is Sunny.

So, naturally my absence from the forum and spending almost all of my free time with the horses the tank... well, I'll let you see for yourself.

Yep, time for a reboot... everything is covered in algae and aiptasia. It would be too hard to clean it up in the state its in without bleaching or acid dipping the rocks. I tossed around just tearing the whole thing down and selling it, but I just can't bring myself to do it. Hopefully posting here will give me the encouragement I need to get it done.

I saved a 12y.o. horse from a trail riding operation locally go me about 10 years ago. Was an awesome experience.

We will keep bugging you and poking to assist with the undertaking of the reboot. :)

Well, the Fairy Tail is shut down. Emptied it this weekend and moved it out. It was so far gone, every inch of exposed rock was covered in either bubble algae or aiptasia. Very few corals left to save... I just let the thing go last year.

Don't worry I have a "new" tank already set up and hopefully I'll be getting around to starting up a new build thread here soon. Sneak peak? Ok maybe a little...

Turtle hows the horses.
Still eating hay, I'm ready for spring to grow some grass. Weather is turning, flowers are blooming, horses are shedding, grass is still kinda dead. Sunny stepped on her reins the other day and promptly picked up her head, snapping her nice leather bridle... I'm sure she did it on purpose, she was refusing to take the bit just before she did it. She still had to work in the arena tho, she needs the muscle and lung exercise.

Turtle hows the horses.
Demanding attention... this is Sugar Bear, TWHBEA registered name Immortal's Baby Girl. She is a rescue from a too small enclosure with too many other horses with way too little food. She was one of the more dominant so she was in better condition than most... She's been with my mother in law for probably 2 or 3 years and she's been my horse since September. She is very well cared for now, but only really trusts two people... I think you can guess which two.

Today, after feeding, she refused to leave her stall(only available during feeding time) and pretended to eat dirt until I went in there and loved on her for 15 minutes. Needless to say, she's missed me since I've ridden my other mare the last two times.

She's vorgous
Oh she's a very well built mare, she's 14.2hh or 58 inches at the withers(absolute perfect height if you ask me. Short enough you can mount from the ground, big enough she can carry me) short back and strong legs. She's actually about to change colors, they are shedding their winter coats now that spring is here. Her summer coat she gets a LOT of white roaning on her sides. I havent had DNA test done but I think she's got a rabicano gene or some sabino gene, neither of which they have reliable tests for... Forget what the groundhog says, horse owners know it's spring when they get covered in hair.
