Alright so, Turtle moved the lights to 6" above the water last night. I uhh... well... here, you look for yourself.

PAR map.jpg

Those look like some nice numbers for stix!

@pelphrey see image above for PAR numbers in a 30”x 24”x 24” tank using a 3rd 160.

Thanks to @Scurvy & @siggy for pointing me to this thread. I was concerned with my par numbers running the 36" aquatic life fixture and two kessil 160's. Seeing your par numbers may save me a lot of money!

Welcome to the Fairy Tale, @pelphrey! Right now its more along the lines of a twisted tale...

I have 4 ATI true actinic bulbs and 3 A160s set at 35% color and 100 intensity for that test. The fixture was 6" off the water. 35% color is my favorite setting on the Kessils, so I tested there. I'm sure I could get more Par closer to 50 or 60%, as I believe that's where I got the highest readings... but I like 35% too much.

I forgot to ask, how was the sand? Did you get it wet shortly after putting it in? I was thinking about putting in one of the bags around the right side but water won't be in until at least Sunday. Should I wait or do you think it'll be ok in the tank until then?

Dusty... touching it with the blade on the flipper would send up a puff of white "smoke" that would partially cloud the tank. I may try rinsing it before putting back in the tank. It was a pretty white (not near @Scurvy white tho) and looked like a nice grain size in the bag, but the dust...

Mine was also only marginally damp like you mentioned... over all, I really wasn't impressed with it other than it looks pretty?

Guess now is the time to switch if I want, huh...?

Oh, and what is one of my threads without a little suspense... ok, I know y'all want this replacement tank as bad as I do... butttt

We ordered coral. Singular, not plural... just one this time. It's a beauty.

Oh, Turtle says y'all want a hint... ok I'll play along, it rhymes with achey and brakey and it'll break your heart.

Squishy bouncy... I've always liked that type of LPS. I just needed the right one to come along at the right time... well, now isn't exactly the perfect time, but I have a holding tank.

And yea, @najer kinda influenced me. Bad role model for coral addicts that guy...

Did you use the original or the oolite?

Original grade.

I'll probably just add it back to the tank once I get it set up. It'll make a huge sand cloud because its already wet, but thats fine. Maybe it'll clear up where it won't send up smoke signals from the scraper.

I can't say it here, but my phone refers to it as ducked.
Ouch!
I have hard wood, and the edges are lifting just from spills and drips. I have done my own installations and finishing, Not bad but is work and now I let a pro do it. There in and out.
