This thread has me convinced; what are some of the easier smoothies to try? I know somebody will say Fox Flame, but that one has never been nice to me.

turakis, skinny love v2, WWC Purple Candle, and some of the green caroliniana types like WWC Yoda seem hardier in my experience. If those do well for you, start stepping up your game with more expensive pieces and become a full-on addict

Peng's Cherry Tip and Blueberry Fantasy have been pretty solid for me too, as I know mine went through some pretty rough parameter swings and came out the other side growing and healthy. A big part of growing smoothies is resisting the temptation to frag them too early, or start with a tiny booger just because it is cheaper. Tiny frags are not the way to go, usually come from colonies that are too small to be fragging in the first place because the person wants a quick return on their investment, and might mean the colony has been overfragged and is already on its way to stalling. I think this is the story of about 90% of Jawdropper frags that have ever been sold until recently.

Beautiful smoothies! Need to add some more to my display and cube!

Currently the only smoothie in my tank (I think). Only a small frag right now.

This 100% I think this is a big issue overall with frag sizes in general.

Dude what’s crazy is ORA is putting out some newer corals that are probably really nice but nobody is buying them. QCC and Saltwater Aquarium sell them but I’ve searched the forums and nobody mentions any of them.

Here’s my OG Hawkins, you are def getting nicer color and thicker branches.

Edit: btw, that purple turaki is on steroids man!

Here's a quick photo I took of the FHC Sour Granny colony that one came from. Like I said, it is paler in this system and shows richer color with higher nitrates, but you can see what I mean about the long thin branching pattern, a bit odd.

No name got it as a chunk out of shop display tank for $20 about a year ago. It’s since grown well. Shop kid said it’s been in the their tank for a really really long time. He was shocked I was even interested in a piece. If anybody can ID it, it would be much appreciated. I just figured it’s a granulosa?
