Male choats only interaction with female was flash and pace her as she learned not to run. He would get little aggressive at times.

Well never gave it a thought but sold them separate vs pair. Silly as I could have got more as pair but it’s not all about money. Well I have one sad male choats. Sulks, drifts around the tank and dorsal/anal fins look non existent. Creepy looking. I messed up separating them.

I've got a H. Melanurus, an H. Leucoxanthus, and an M. Meleagris in my 70... Probably not a good idea to follow my example though.
Im 90% sure its not a good idea to follow the example of many wrasse addicts :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

That's true. @jkcoral has a famous possum that takes no scheisse!

I’ve had different possums for years and years. I have no data to back it up, but in my experience, the yellow banded seem to be the most “outgoing.”

I think heavy feeding and “peaceful” tank mates (no fish feeling like they need to aggressively fight to compete for food) help them grow into confident individuals. But I also think sometimes people interpret their reclusive nature as being weak or feeble, when in reality they are just in “stealth” predator mode cruising through the rocks doing their thing.

Little scar face is the first possum I’ve had that crossed from being confident into gangster. But he’s still compassionate, as he tormented the tomini for months but has now taken him under his wing haha

im sure this has been asked a lot of times in the past 1300 pages but I don't have it in me to read them all so ill ask again.....

im getting a new 70 gallon delivered tomorrow that ill be setting up over the next couple of months. main purpose will be an sps tank but id definitely love to have a couple wrasses in the tank if possible. thinking id like to add a Cirrhilabrus Brunneus and Cirrhilabrus Exquisitus

Stock moving over:
ocellarious Pair
gramma
fire fish
yellow line possum wrasse

thanks for any insight

They’d probably be just fine. Although like others said, the Brunei are wimps. I got one for my father that is in a tank with an exquisite, (transitioning) female pintail (Penny), and my Vivian (Vivvy). And the Brunneus is scared of both the pintail and Viv even though they are both peaceful as can be (and quite wimpy themselves).

My dad and I both have exquisites that are quite boisterous at times/run around flashing and displaying. But even though they act tough sometimes, they are wimpy too haha.

My QT’d fish including two wrasse, C efatensis and P filementosus, will hopefully be shipped next week. Also inquired about a 5” C gaimard and was told $160 QT’d. It’s tempting especially if I can’t find another source.

it’s not that, he loves to show off his colours it’s his size that doesn’t make him the same :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

That edwardi really is something else.
His eye is gorgeous, I now have so many photos to choose from as a new profile photo :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:
Do I go for the mystery pencil or the edwardi…

Well, I achieved it… 26 fish and 15 of them are wrasses, over half of my stock is wrasse :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

Im so close to having all my wrasse stock over half way if I total both tanks - a total of 34 fish with 17 wrasses, I just need 2 more wrasses outside of the planned laboutei.

3 words;
Join the gang ;)

I’d love to, but oh man, it’s a recipe for a viscous cycle.

1. Have very large tank, become bored, want to downsize and simplify.

2. Downsize, simplify, feel happy with the humbler tank filled with a few of the real favorites.

3. Continue feeling content, but exposure to wrasse photos and other people’s fish begin to make you fill you with desire.

4. Desire creeps further into your mind. Begin “browsing” for large tank on the internet. Begin building list of explanations for why you need a 200g+ system again to the fun police.

5. Relapse. Impulse purchase large tank on a random Tuesday. Spend a while in the dog house, but otherwise feel very happy for a year.

6. Return to Step 1.

I believe I am currently around Step 4 haha
