The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

Today has gone from bad (third dead clam) to very bad. brunneus seems to have been injured just now. I turn around and he's swimming with only one pectoral fin. I can imagine Mrs. Clown had a go at him literally behind my back.

Who are the wrasse medics here? @Crabby48 ? Do any of you mind looking at these videos and let me know what you think I should do? I am thinking of pulling him and putting him in an acclimation box for now so he can be fed directly. Not sure how I'm going to catch him. Net? He's not in a good spot for catching with a container.

Acclimation box and if you see any white bacterial buildup use a broad spectrum antibiotic like kanaplex preferably in a qt but it can be used in a DT.

Also Jay Hemdal is great but I would be wary of others advice. There’s at least one guy on the medic side who says a lot of bull.

Good news, though! Seems to have recovered use of its pectoral fin and is out swimming and eating. Keeping an eye on it in case an infection develops.

Isn't he handsome? You can't see it with the camera lenses, but the lateral lines branching from his face are blue.

Also, the second video posted from yesterday had an unintentional, but pretty good, video bomb from Mr. Pink Streak, who is becoming more bold by the day. Even the Mrs. is out and about. They were hilarious while I was trying to catch the brunneus. Every time I'd look through a hole or nook trying to find the brunneus, there was a big orange eye staring at me.

Looks great! I think it will fully recover from that injury

One of my dream wrasses compared to a photo;

The green wasn’t hugely vibrant but the red is absolutely stunning.

Photos definitely look a lot nicer on a lot of fish. Like those intense red scribbles on the edwardii face in the photos are nowhere near as visible on mine. Not sure if it is still a transitioning male, or the scribbles were stress colours. Has a few on his head, but not much underneath:

Acclimation box is a good way to go. Wrasse is stressed and box won’t help that. I recommend a more natural setting in a separate tank from anyone that is a threat to him. He needs not to be stressed to heal. Stress is number one killer to wrasse.
Can you see damaged? Any infections. I would feed foods with added Aminos and vitamins if possible

Though it is out of focus I think this is the most accurate photo of my dusky I've yet taken.

Unfortunately my camera seems to need flash to focus properly and that causes it to look very different:

As you can see the dusky is a big boy but my cleaner is growing fast!

In the other tank isn't this a happy wrasse!

This one is still in the awkward transitional phase:

Makes sense to me. Unfortunately couldn't catch the slippery di.. wait, wrong wrasse. Anyway, I caught the perpetrator easily and put her in jail. Prepping her new home w/ her beau.
