It's going to be the first thing I post once I (hopefully) get it!

Also is it possible to keep multiple of the species?
I have never kept one. I also don’t buy into cirhilabrus “bonded pairs” or groups doing well in our small aquariums.

I was advised they even if you have a pair eventually the female will turn male an then there could be a big problem, But Like everything in this hobby not one rule fits, Good luck on your decission

What if I get 2 females?
Wrasse are know to change sex, unlike clowns both can an most likely will change. but its best in the wrasses to get females wrasse life expectance is a 5-7 year window. Getting males push you closer to that window. Now with leopards you can add more of same speicies

Third times the charm? The flasher wrasse died in my LFS's QT system one week before I was supposed to pick it up. I put a labout's fairy wrasse on order and hopefully this will be the first fish going in my 10 month old LPS system
Did the flasher also have UNWD? I'm beginning to wonder just how prevalent this is. I imagine there is some misdiagnosis, but still a lot of wrasses dying in QT...

First one died in my tank due to (I think) the shock of moving tanks, have no idea why the second one died as I have minimal details

I know you seem to trust the LFS but if I’m honest, I would move away from them if you’ve lost that many wrasses now. You’ve not had success with even just 1. I recommend rethinking that LFS and going towards an LFS that does minimal QT or none as by the sounds of it they’re doing something wrong in quarantine which is stressing the wrasses and if you still plan for a laboutei, I have found them more sensitive to quarantine.

In all honesty, looking at the success rate with other fish (wrasse included) I've been really unlucky. On the day that I was supposed to pick up my wrasse 2 other flashers made It through QT (there was only 3 including mine) along with about 30 anthias. Plus it's the only LFS in my area. And the China wrasse was also thriving in the QT setup for all 4 weeks

Anyone have experience with exquisite fairy wrasses?

They are good fish. Both mine and my dad’s are very personable, and eat like pigs. When well fed, they can beef up pretty quick and are very sturdy looking.

Peaceful as well. Likes to run around flashing when he gets amped up (very responsive to himself in the mirror or when he’s super excited about food), but even then has never bothered my small peaceful pintail, pink streaks or possum.

A good fish! Here’s mine coming to see if I have food.

What specific gravity are they coming in to the store and also in their QT system. I suspect 1.018. You can’t acclimate to 1.026 (if that is what your DT is at) in 1 day. This is the situation at my lfs and I have him slowly acclimate up to 1.026 for me over a few days so I can drop into my observation or QT tank. Just something to think about.
